本日の英語： 「やる気ゼロ」
うちの老叔父は白浜が大好きなのだが、何で好きかというと
ペンギンが好きだからなのだ。
好き、と言っても 「かわいー」 とか言うわけでもペンギンについて
語るわけでもなく、若干ニヤニヤしながら見てるだけ、という愛情表現しかせず、
世界中の誰が見ても 「あのじーさんペンギン好きそう」 とは夢にも思えない様子
なのだが、大好きなのだ。
それで 「ペンギン見たい」 とかの本音はおくびにも出さず、何年かに一度
「白浜行こか。」 という、言葉だけはこちらの意向も聞いているっぽいけど
ほぼ 「白浜行くで。」 という意味の号令を発し、みんなで行く。
それで、二日目、宿をチェックアウトしたら 「さあ、どこ行く？」 などという質問には
ほぼ意味がなく、もちろん南紀白浜アドベンチャーワールドに行き、
ペンギンを見るのだ。
ペンギンを見るのにアドベンチャーワールドが適している理由は、
ペンギンが外を歩くところを手の届く距離から見られることにある。
