今年最初の強化合宿はハワイで行いました。
このブログでもご報告したとおりです。
おかげさまでこの度の合宿では
ハワイ柔道連盟のケビン・アサノ会長はじめ、多くの皆様のご協力のもと
身体作りを中心とした大変充実した合宿となりました。改めて御礼申し上げます。
この合宿について一つ、追加でご報告しておきたいことがあります。
現地でハワイ在住の子どもを対象に柔道教室を行ったことです。
ありがたいことに参加者の皆さんは、
日本の選手たちのことをよく知っていてくれて
大変喜んでいただきました。
そしてうれしく思ったのが
快く講師を務めてくれた強化選手たちが
実に上手に楽しそうに指導していたことです。
いつの間にか選手たちはたくさんの経験を積み、
頼もしく育っていると感慨深くなりました。
強化選手たちは日本のトップの選手たちですから
日本柔道の伝道師でもあります。
今回、その役割を彼らはしっかり果たしてくれていたと思います。
私は全日本男子強化総監督として
強化選手たちには様々な経験を通じて
人間としての幅を広げ、視野を広げるきっかけの一つにして欲しいと考えています。
その意味でも今回のハワイ合宿での柔道教室も
そうした機会の一つとなったのではないかと考えています。

Judo Missionaries
The first team training camp of the year took place in Hawaii.

Thanks to the support of Kevin Asano, President of the Hawaii Judo Federation and the cooperation of a great number of other people, this training camp was highly successful, with a main focus on body development. I’d like to offer my thanks again to everyone.
I’d also like to add a further mention, a judo class which we organized for local Hawaiian children during the camp.
The children who took part already knew a lot of our athletes which made us very happy and they were very excited to take part.
Something else which made me really glad was watching our athletes truly enjoying teaching.
In a short space of time our athletes have gained a lot of experience. I have a deep sense that they are looking very promising
Our athletes are the best in Japan which also makes them missionaries of Japanese Judo. At this camp I think they did an excellent job in that role.
As head coach of the Japan Men’s Team I hope this this kind of experience will be a great opportunity for them to broaden their humanity and their viewpoint.
In that respect I believe that the training camp and Judo class in Hawaii was one such experience.
