先週末、ブリスベンの「台湾フェスティバル２０１２」で
ゲスト出演しました。
Last weekend, I performed at "Taiwan Festival 2012" in Brisbane.
９月２２日、２３日、二日間のイベントでした。
オープニングの２２日には約５万人が集まったらしい！
It was a 2 days festival. (Sep 22nd~23rd)
On the 22nd, appox. 50,000 people turned up!
イベントでギネス世界記録の「最も多い数のデンデン太鼓の演奏者」
に１６００人以上が参加し、チャレンジも達成しました！
The Guinness world records challenge for
the most Bolang-Gu ensemble playing in the one location
at the one time was very successful!
Over 1600 people participated and broke the world record!

My younger sister helped me all day selling tickets. :)
夜のパフォーマンスには何千人も集まってくれました！
There were thousands of people at my evening performance!
ライブの後はお店でチケット販売＆サイン会。
１００枚以上のポストカードにサインしました。w
After my performances, I sold lots of tickets and gave out
over 100 of my autographed postcards!
今回のフェスティバルに台湾からマジシャンが３名来ました。
この方はそのマジシャンの一人。

世界中を回ってマジックショーを行ってる方です。
いつかは音楽とマジックのコラボをするかもね！w
There were 3 Magicians that came from Taiwan to perform at the festival.
This is Ishida Shiro from Taiwan.
He performs all around the world!
We're hoping to collaborate MUSIC with MAGIC in the near future!
そして夜には豪華な花火大会！
There were also fireworks at the end of the festival!

Armfield 初のEPレコーディング。。。。。
どうも～★
久しぶりのブログです！
最近ブログupが少なくてゴメンね。
ちょっと忙しくて・・・
まぁそれは後ほど。
土曜日にメルボルンでやってるバンド「Armfield」のRECをしてきました！
これはArmfieldの初のEPになります～
朝の８時半にドラマーの家で集合。
みんなで一緒に朝ご飯を食べ、ドラムキット＆機材を車に入れてスタジオへGO~！
今回のスタジオはメルボルンで結構有名な場所、
「Sing Sing Recording Studio」でした。
結構大きくて、スゴく良いVibeのスタジオでした。
オレらバンドメンバーは楽器と機材をセットアップ。
エンジニアのテリーさんはマイクとプロツールスのセットアップ。
スタジオには沢山の機材があるよね。
謎のスイッチとかがいっぱい。
これは何をするのか・・・オレには全く分かりません。笑
しかも後ろが恐ろしいぐらいスゴい。笑
たしか映画「マトリックス」で観たような・・・笑
１２時ぐらいに楽器セットアップ全部完了～
そしてマイクのセッティング＆サウンドチェックも１４時に完了～
オレの個室～
そして１４時半にRECスタート！！！
オレらのマスコット（？）ランディくんも応援に来ました！笑
普段オレのRECは一人でやるのが多い。バンドでRECは久々だった。
今回のRECはヴォーカル以外みんな同時にREC。
アコースティックギター、バイオリン、そしてドラム。
今回RECしたのは４曲。
２２時過ぎに４曲REC終了！！
でもまだ終わらない！！
ヴォーカルがまだ残ってる～
深夜の１時にやっとヴォーカルもREC終了～★
スタジオで１３時間以上、皆さん本当にお疲れさまでした！
みんな同時にRECしたため、音だけじゃなくエネルギーも一緒にRECしました！！w
残りはバッキングヴォーカル＆バイオリンのハーモニー。
これはまた次回ってことで。
スゲーカッコいい作品になります！！！
リリースの日にちとかはまだ決まってませんが、楽しみにしてくださいね。

Hi everyone～★
Sorry I haven't updated my blog in a while.
I've been really busy lately...
I'll talk about that next time.
Last Saturday, my band in Melbourne "Armfield" did our
very first Recording!!
We all rocked up at our drummer's house at 8:30am
and ate breakfast together.
Then loaded the cars with our gear and the drum kit.
We recorded our songs at Melbourne's famous studio,
"Sing Sing Recording Studio".
Many great records has come out from this studio.
It was a decent sized studio, with an awesome vibe.
We got to the studio at 10am and started to set up our gear,
while Terry (our sound engineer) set up the mics and pro tool sessions.
There are lots of switches and knobs in the studio.
I have no idea what this does... haha
The back looks impressive right?I'm sure I've seen this from the movie "Matrix". hahah
We finished setting up around 12pm.
Mics were all done and everyone's individual sound checks
were also done by 2pm~
This is my cave~ haha
At 2:30pm, we started our recording!
Our mascot (?) Randy also came to support us!! haha
In the past, I usually record by myself since I'm a solo artist.
I haven't recorded together as a band for a very long time.
We were very fortunate to record everyone at the same time.
(except for the vocals)
Acoustic Guitar, Violin and Drums.
We recorded 4 tracks.
Finished all the instrumental recording at around 10pm!
But it's not over yet!!!
We still had the vocal takes left!
By the time we finished the vocal takes, it was past 1am.
Over 13 hours in the studio.
Awesome job guys!!!
Since we all recorded it at the same time, the energy was there!!!
All we have left are the backing vocals and some over dubs
for the violin and percussions.
We'll do them next time.
It's going to be an AWESOME EP!!!!
We still haven't decided when to release them,
but make sure you keep a look out for our updates!!

プチ旅行 in ブリスベン part2。。。。。
ブリスベン旅の続きです。
Part 2 of my trip back to Brisbane.
両親の３２年結婚記念日の翌日、family friendsの家で餃子パーティーをしました。
父さんは韓国生まれの中国人です。
じいちゃんは中国の山東から来たので、父さんが子供の頃はよく餃子とか麺類を自分たちで作ってたらしいです。
The day after celebrating my parent's 32nd year anniversary, we went to a family friend's house and made some Gyoza dumplings.
My dad is Chinese born in Korea.
Grandpa is from Shandong in China, so my dad as a kid use to make their own dumplings and noodles themselves.

みんなで100個以上作ったかも！
We probably made more than 100 dumplings.
麺も作った父さんのドヤ顔。笑

My mum and aunty also made some apple pies too. :)

He's name is Mario.
He's bigger than my dog Happy...
ちなみに、家の愛犬ハッピーくんです。

今回のブリスベンの旅は短かったけど、家族と沢山時間を過ごせたのでとても嬉しかったです。
急に戻ってきてすぐに帰ったので、母さんはお別れの時に号泣。
It was a very short trip back to Brisbane, but I got to spend a lot of time with my family.
My mum cried her eyes out when saying good bye.
I guess it's because I came back so suddenly and had to leave so quickly as well.
また戻ってくるから心配しないでね。
Don't worry mum, I'll be back again soon.
家族のみんな、本当にありがとう。

プチ旅行 in ブリスベン part1。。。。。
先週末、両親の３２年目結婚記念日の為にブリスベンへ戻りました。
I went back to Brisbane last weekend to celebrate my parent's
32nd Anniversary.
両親にあげたプレゼントのケーキ。
This is the cake we gave to my parents.
母さんにはバラの花の巨大カップケーキ。
父さんはゴルフ好きなのでグリーンのカップケーキ。笑
Giant rose cupcake for my Mum.
And golf cupcakes for my Dad who loves to play golf. haha
サプライズの翌日、家族全員でゴールドコーストにある ベルサーチHotel (Palazzo Versace) で食事をしました～
The night after, we all went to Palazzo Versace for a family dinner.
特別な日にしか来ないここのレストラン。
We only come here for special occasions.
シーフードブッフェが有名なレストランです。
Seafood buffet~ yum yum!!
父さんと母さん、スゴく喜んでました。

I went back to Brisbane last weekend to celebrate my parent's
32nd Anniversary.
両親にあげたプレゼントのケーキ。
This is the cake we gave to my parents.
母さんにはバラの花の巨大カップケーキ。
父さんはゴルフ好きなのでグリーンのカップケーキ。笑
Giant rose cupcake for my Mum.
And golf cupcakes for my Dad who loves to play golf. haha
サプライズの翌日、家族全員でゴールドコーストにある ベルサーチHotel (Palazzo Versace) で食事をしました～
The night after, we all went to Palazzo Versace for a family dinner.
特別な日にしか来ないここのレストラン。
We only come here for special occasions.
シーフードブッフェが有名なレストランです。
Seafood buffet~ yum yum!!
父さんと母さん、スゴく喜んでました。

両親の３２年目結婚記念日にサプライズ？！。。。。。
今日は父さんと母さんの３２年目の結婚記念日です。
この日のために昨日ブリスベンに戻ってきました。
実は、数週間前からこの日の為にサプライズを企画してました。w
兄弟と連絡を取り合ってオレがメルボルンからサプライズで戻ってくるドッキリを親に仕掛けました。
仕掛けたドッキリは・・・
親が家に戻ってくる前に家の２階で隠れてて、親が戻ってきたタイミングでスカイプコールをする。
オレがメルボルンにいるように普通にスカイプをする。
急にオレが「ちょっとトイレ行くから待ってて」と言って、１階にいる親の所へ行って驚かせる。
この数週間、本当に忙しかったのもあるけど、オレもわざと意地悪で親との連絡を少なくしてた。
そして昨日の昼、母さんに電話して「これからレッスンに向かってるんだけど、夜に時間空いてるからスカイプコールしない？」としかけた。実はこの時点でオレはもう空港に向かってた。笑
今回は週末だけだったから楽器もなしで小さいスーツケース１つ！
こんな楽な旅は初めてかも！！w
ブリスベンについた時からが難しかった。
Facebookでコメントとかしたらブリスベンにいるって事がばれるし、両親がまだ家にいたので帰れないし・・・
とりあえず空港で数時間つぶす事に・・・
空港ターミナル内のカフェでコーヒーを買おうとしたら・・・なぜか店員さんがオレの事を知ってて、並んでる時からずっと「Hey KATEI~ KATEI~!」って言ってくるんだ。笑
オレは見た事の無い方だったんだけど、色々話してたら去年のワンマンライブに来てくれてたらしくて。笑
普段は$4.20のコーヒーを$3.90にしてくれたみたい。感謝です！
しかもレシートにKATEIって。笑
弟から連絡が入り「今ちょうど両親が食事で出かけたから、これから迎えに行くね」と。
親が戻ってくる３０分前にオレらが帰宅。
早くも２階に隠れて兄弟３人でドッキリのリハーサルを！笑
準備完了！！！
戻ってくるのを待つだけ。
そして、両親が食事から戻ってきました～
本番です！！w
母さんの付けっぱなしのパソコンにスカイプコールをした。
オレとの約束時間に遅れて両親は二人とも焦ってパソコンの前に行った。
母「ゴメン、ゴメン！今戻ってきたんだ。」
K「もう～何時だと思ってるの？スゲー待ったよ。」
母「ゴメン。最近連絡少ないけど、忙しいみたいだね。」
K「まぁね。あ、ちょっと待って。トイレ・・・」
母「あ、分かった。」
か～ら～の～w
こっそり１階に行き・・・
K「この家のトイレって何処だっけ？」
父さんと母さんマジでビックリしたよ！！！笑
メルボルンにいるはずのオレ、さっきまでスカイプでメルボルンと繋がってたオレが急に現れたからね。w
さすがに父さんも２度見したし。笑
テッテレー♪ ドッキリ大成功！
大喜びの母さん。w
そしてコイツ！！久しぶりに会うオレの子分！笑
って事で今週末はドッキリでブリスベンに戻ってきてます。笑

Today is my parent's 32nd Year Anniversary.
For this special day, I came back to Brisbane for a visit.
Well, it was a surprise visit that we've been planning for weeks!
This is what we decided to do...
I would get back home before my parents would and hide upstairs.
I'd call them on Skype and have a conversation as if I'm in Melbourne.
Then I'll tell them to hold on while I go to the toilet.
and I'll come down stairs and surprise them both.
We've been planning this for weeks.
I've been quite busy these few weeks, but I must admit
that I've been very sneaky as well and trying not to be in touch
with my parents as much to build the climax. hahaha
I called mum yesterday afternoon and said...
"I'm on my way to teaching but I have some time tonite for Skype.
Can we talk tonite?"
Mum agreed and everything was on the right track!
(In fact when I was calling her, I was on the sky bus to the airport~)
I got to Brisbane airport, but had to wait a few hours there...
coz my parents were still at home....
Finally I got a message from my brother saying our parents has
finally left the house for dinner and he can finally come pick me up.
We got home 30 mins before my parents did.
I hid in the bedroom upstairs, and we prepared the surprise.
As my parents came home from dinner, I called my mum's Skype.
I hear them running into the house and answering my Skype call.
Mum- "Sorry!! We just got home"
KATEI- "Do you know what time it is? I've waited for a long time"
Mum- " Sorry. You haven't been in touch with us for a while now. Been busy?"
KATEI- "Yea, I've been kinda busy... hey, can you hold on for a sec? Toilet..."
Mum- "Ok ok~"
Then I sneaked down stairs and said out loud...
"So where's the toilet in this house???"
hahahhaa
Mum and Dad were SOOOO surprised!!!!!
They looked at the computer screen, then at me, back at the screen,
then back at me to make sure it's really me!!! hahah
YAY!!
Successful surprise~!!!!
Both Mum and Dad were very happy to see me~
So I'm back in Brisbane just for the weekend.

Armfield 学校ワークショップ。。。。。
小６～中３の生徒たちにワークショップを行います。
内容は普段学校の音楽授業で習えない言ばかり。
どうやってバンドを組む。
バンドの楽しさ。
曲作りのこつ。
作詞。
グルーヴの出し方。
正しいリハーサルの仕方。
自分たちのバンドでどんなサウンドを出す／見つける。
個人のパーツをどうアレンジする。
そしてオレは即興演奏＆エレキバイオリンについて少し話します。
学年、１時間ずつワークショップをします。
楽しんでくれるかな？
みんな何かを覚えてくれると嬉しいです。
朝の８時に学校集合なので、明日は結構早いぞ。。。Orz
（朝が苦手です・・・）
ワークショップの後はオレのちびっ子３人のレッスン～
これも楽しみだ！！w

Armfield is doing our very first "School Workshop" for the kids
at Bialik College tomorrow.
The workshop is for kids in grade 7 to grade 9.
The things we will be talking about are something that you would
not normally learn at your music classes at school.
For example...
How to form a band.
Enjoying playing in a band.
How to write a song.
How to write lyrics.
What is a groove.
The correct way to rehearse.
How to find your unique band sound.
Arranging individual parts.
And I'll be talking a little bit on improvisation and electric violin.
The workshop will be 1 hour per year group.
I hope they enjoy our workshop tomorrow.
I'll be happy if they go home learning something new.
We have to meet at the school @ 8am...
It's an early start... (not an early morning guy...)
After the workshop, I'll be teaching my 3 little students again~
Looking forward to that as well!
