Japanese girl's ability
When I was in Ottawa, my friend's parents let me stay at their house. So, I made Japanese food for them! I am a representative of Japanese girls, so I have to show off!! hehe
Everyone ate 2-3 servings and said that all the food was very good. That made my day! The chicken was marinated with soy sauce, cooking sherry and garlic for a few hours. The salad dressing was made of soy sauce, sesame oil, vinegar, sugar and ramen soup, and I added baked almonds and ramen flakes as toppings. I thought I did well, too ;p
If you want me as a wife, please pick me up in Kamloops! (lol)

Montreal 2 -Old Montreal-
I am back home in Kamloops! Today I am going to write about the rest of my trip to Montreal ;)
This is in front of Notre-Dame Basilica. And the inside is like on the right photo. Celine Dion had a wedding here. Actually, I didn't expect that much before I went in this church. I even hesitated to pay $5 for entree, but as soon as I got inside, I was so amused since it was so beautiful and huge. It is no wonder why Celine wanted to have a wedding here :)
There are many cute shops along a street in Old Montreal. Due to this cold weather and the snow, there were few people walking...nobody except for me and my friend. I thought the boards in front of each restaurant were cute
This town appearance reminded me of Austria and Germany.
We had brunch at a restaurant because an old guy (maybe the owner?) came out of the restaurant and insisted that pizza there was the best in Montreal. We doubted a little bit, but actually the Sisilia pizza was really good. I ordered soup and omlet :) Trip-like, eh?
The outside was so cold, so we decided to go to Science Centre. I knew that I was in Old Montreal which has an intresting history, but I couldn't beat the coldness...haha
Actually, the center was really fun. There are games to understand sustainability of a city and so on. There were so many small kids running around, but I enjoyed so much with them :)

Montreal
It took 2 hours from Ottawa to Montreal by train. On the way, I sat facing an old couple. They didn't talk, but held hands and smiled. They made me smile, too. It was snowing outside. I was already feeling so weird because the announcement was in French first. Wow wow, a trip has started!
I arrived in Montreal around 3, but it got dark by the time I went out to explore. The downtown reminded me of Japanese metropolitan areas; such as Umeda in Osaka and Shijo in Kyoto where I always hang around. It is because Montreal downtown is more built-up area and there are many fashion stores. I was so excited and looked around at ZARA, H&M and so on. Sigh, I need fashion shopping sometimes to cheer me up, man. Since Montreal is a French-Canadian area, people speak in French mainly. They are totally bilingual. French-Canadian girls are very stylish and fashionable. I wondered if I can walk around outside when I get home in Japan. Fat Maiko is coming back. Someone accepts me??
Poutin is famous in Montreal. It is chips covered by gravy and cheeze. I ordered poutine avec poulet. Poulet is chicken in English. My first dinner in Montreal is of course...hehe. It was so good. I had beer which was made at the pub. Bitter, but went well with the oily yummy food

Next day, I explored Old Montreal. Montreal is the first settlement in Canada, so it is quite old. Nothing can be compared to Japanese history or whatever, but there are many European-style churches and buildings. They reminded me of a trip to Europe with my best friends. It is freezing cold. Literally COLD. I covered myself with a scarf, a coat and I wore tights underneath. I was totally prepared. All you can see was my eyes...hehe. I was still happy though. I will post another journal about Montreal trip later
