アメリカの大学院(UPenn)で新学期が始まったようです。大変だろうけど、それが将来の肥やしになります(ある意味うらやましい)。頑張れ、Camel!

Dear Dr. Tanabe and Dr. Longcope,

Hope this email finds you well.

The fall semester finally kicked off from August 29th and I was finally able to take some deep breath now as I reached the end of the first week. I have been inundated with so much course assignments already as Peter-sensei told me in Dr. Tanabe's office. Now I am happy with the news that September 4th is Labor Day and there are no classes tomorrow. Hopefully I can finish my over 100+ pages of reading assignment before the next class.

In this fall semester, I took three core TESOL courses: Introduction to Applied Linguistics by Dr. Pomerantz, Linguistics in Education by Dr. Butler, and Approaches to Teaching English and Other Modern Languages by Dr. Catherine Box.

I told Dr. Pomerantz after the first class that I met Dr. Longcope at Senshu University before coming to the US and she said, "Oh! Peter is one of my very old, old friend. Please send my wishes for me!" She looked very happy when I mentioned his name.

Also, I was able to contact Takami-sensei, Japanese instructor at Penn, a couple weeks ago. We could not set up an appointment since it is just the beginning of the semester, but I am hoping that I can meet her during the fall semester.

I had a bad jet lag and it took me about a week to adjust my body clock to the time in the US, but other than that I was able to settle in smoothly.

My apologies for suddenly interrupting your restful summer break. I will keep you posted to let you know I still am surviving at Penn.
