ハワイの人気観光地の一つであるダイアモンドヘッドが予約制になりました。

今回取り上げるのは、fruition /fruˈɪʃən/です。意味を推測することが出来ませんでしたので、調べていきたいと思います。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第５版）には、「（計画、目標などの）達成、実現」「（努力の）成果」とあります。達成するは、comeを用いてcome to fruition や、bring を使い bring something to fruition, be brought to fruition.と表現するようです。
LDOCEには、if a plan, project etc comes to fruition, it is successfully put into action and completed, often after a long process.と定義されています。すぐに出来る達成ではなく、時間がかかった際の達成として使うことが分かります。
Online Etymology Dictionaryには、early 15c., "act of enjoying," from Old French fruition and directly from Late Latin fruitionem (nominative fruitio) "enjoyment," noun of action from past-participle stem of Latin frui "to use, enjoy" (from PIE root *bhrug- "to enjoy"). 本文では、「この予約システムが実現し」と解釈できると思われます。
ゴールデンウィークが始まり、ハワイではコロナの影響で実施できていなかったツアーが再開したことで、日本人観光客の姿も2年ぶりに見えているそうです。コロナ禍で観光客がいなかったため、現在はビーチがとてもきれいになっているそうです。徐々に規制がなくなり元の生活に戻りつつありますが、まだまだ油断してはならないのではないでしょうか。(Dai)
