先日、アメリカのミシガン州、フェリス州立大学で教授をしている友人から電話がありました。
私が送った新年のカードと同封したチラシが届いたと、電話をくれたのです。ちなみに、私が同封したのはこのチラシ。
A few days ago, my friend who teaches at Ferris State University in Michigan called me.
He told me that he received my family new year card and our drugstore's leaflet below.

家族でミシガンまで遊びに来いと言うのです。前から、アメリカの友人たちには、娘が大きくなったら夏休みにホームステイさせてくれるように頼んでいたのですが・・・。
「娘さんたちも絶対にここが気に入ると思うよ。いいところだもん。もう日本に帰りたくないって言い出すかもよ」だって。
私自身が、もう帰りたくないと思うだろうな。
この寒空の中、６歳の娘とバドミントンとサッカーをして、ブログの続きを書いている私でした。
まだ、一つ、二つですが庭にふきのとうが出ているのを見つけました。春が待ち遠しい。
アメリカにもふきのとうってあるのかなあ？
He told me that our family should visit him. I was asking my friends in the US to
let my older daughter stay with them for summer when she gets old enough.
"Your daughters will love here. This is a great place to raise kids. They may say that they do not want to go back to Japan" he said.
I, myself may feel that way, if I go there.
Well, I just finished playing badminton and soccer with my 6 years old in this cold weather.
Oh, in our backyard I found a few butterbur scapes, edible flower buts of fuki, an early spring delicacy in Japan. It is a sign that spring is just around the corner.
