Skheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
ヤフーブログ時代からお付き合いくださっている方から「見たわよ！」って言われちゃうけど、2年半前のアブダビのお写真です。

アブダビの首長だった故ザイード・ビン・スルタン・アルナヒーヤン（1918-2004）によって、建設が1996年にはじまって、2007年に完成したモスク。
The mosque construction was launched by the late Emir (Sheikh) Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (1918-2004) in 1996, and opened in 2007.
寄り道するけど、アラブ人の名前って、最初が本人の名前で、で、「ビン・何とか」ってなっていたら、「何とか」は、パパの名前。「ビン」は「息子」と言う意味で、「ビン・スルタン」は、「スルタンの息子」と言う意味。
By the way, Arab people’s names are usually, the first one is the name for the person, and when it comes with “Bin XXX” then “XXX” is the name of his father, and “Bin” means “a son”. So, here “Bin Sultan” means “the son of Sultan”.
でね、イスラム圏の人って苗字がない場合もよくあるけど、「アル・何とか」ってなっていたら、大概、それが苗字（と言うか、部族とか一族の名前）。
Often there’s a culture in which “family names” are not used among Muslim people, however, if a name contains “Al-XXX” then it usually means a family name. (or a tribe name).
ちなみに、サラのお友達のモロッコ人、サラは時々「アブー・ユースフ」って呼ぶんだけど、これは「ユースフのパパ」っていう意味で、彼の息子の名前が「ユースフ」君。
Sarah sometime calls her Moroccan friend, “Abu Yusef”, it means “Father of Yusef” since his son’s name is “Yusef”.
アブダビ、お仕事だったけど、最後にこのモスクを訪問できて、ラッキーだったわ！
It was a duty trip though, luckily got time to visit this mosque on the last day.
でもね、実は、礼拝は神様との対話の時間だから、質素であるべきって、教わったことがあって、その印象が強いから、なんかね、このきらびやかなところに違和感を持ったけどね・・・

Actually, Sarah leant that prayer is time to face to GOD, so the place should be simple long time ago, so, a bit hard to believe that this gorgeous building is the place for prayers. Well, but it’s really BEAUTIFUL💝
