ハナミズキ Flowering Dogwood

ハナミズキ、ちょっと奇妙ででもかわいいお花
Flowering Dogwood, a bit strange and cute flowers

明治時代にワシントンDCにサクラを送ったら
お返しにもらった木だって・・
it’s not native to Japan, but when Tokyo presented Sakura
to Washington DC about 100 years ago,
Tokyo was presented Flowering Dogwood for it

本当のお花は・・・真ん中の黄色い部分だけ
the flower-like parts are bracts,
actual flowers are only the small yellow ones

総苞が開いた時より・・実は
for Sarah, like these. . .

蕾のように見えるこの形がかなり好き！
half-closed state is much preferred
