先週・・・

久しぶりですね

It's getting colder every day

実は先週Switzerlandへ行ってきました
6年前にAustraliaで通っていた学校の友達に逢いに行くという目的です

ItalyのMilan Malpensa Airportに降り立ち、
友達が車でお迎えに来てくれていたので、そのまま
SwitzerlandのLugano(Italian part)へ移動しました。
(Italyは空港だけで、どこにも行ってないんです)

車道は日本とは逆なので、変な感じでしたよ
国境を越える時も至って普通にスルーでびっくりしました

友達のおうちにお泊りだったのですが、
その友達は次の日仕事でいないため、
友達のママと二人で少しの間過ごすことになりました
ランチを作ってくれたのですが、
ママはItalianで私はEnglishという不思議な会話になり･･･
でも少しでも会話が成り立っていたのに驚きました

前日の14時頃のフライトで日本を出て、time differenceは8時間、

そしてSwitzerland時間の18時頃に着きました。

日本時間の夜中の2時です。最悪なこと飛行機でほぼ寝れませんでした

Dinnerをしにレストランへ行ってから帰宅。

ベッドに入ったのが夜中の1時頃で・・・(日本時間は朝9時です)

1日起きていたことになり・・・おぉ

I had jet lag

LuganoからLuzern(German part)へ電車で移動中、
車中でボトルの水を購入したらなんと450円位しました！！
なんてこったーーー

今回行ったのはSwitzerlandの1ヵ国だけですが、
言語が違うところへ行ったのでいっきに2ヵ国行った気分です♪

A Problem of Plurals: 'S', no 'S'

This is dedicated to the hard working indy

English staff, ‘S’ san and ‘S’ san.

'Staff' の複数は’Staff'です。

Plurals and irregular nouns are two of the

most difficult and crazy areas of English.

複数形と不規則名詞は難しいよ！

Today a high school student said to me,

“I love pony.”

Then she became very confused

(and a little upset) when I asked her what

pony meat tastes like.

“I don’t eat pony.” she said angrily.

“Do you like chicken?” I asked.

“Well, yes I do.” she replied.

“So, you love ponies. With an ‘s’.” I said.

Without an ‘s’, to like or love any animal

in English sounds like it’s meat to eat.

Now here is a problem:

When I say, “I like my chicken.”

what do I mean? The chicken (meat) on

my plate or, my pet chicken?

Well, how many people have a ‘pet’ chicken?

The chance is the chicken is meat.

And we shouldn’t even think about the

irregular plural: fish,

“I love my fish.”

(Pet) gold-fish? Guppies? Ajifry? Smoked salmon?

This is why much food has an uncountable noun

aspect.　不可算名詞の諸相

“I’d like a prawn salad.” not,

“I’d like a prawns salad.”

Even though there are many prawns in the salad.

It is not surprising that sheep meat is

called mutton and cow meat is called beef.

It stops a lot of confusion.

Talking about food, here is a question:

What are desserts without an ‘s’?

Hint: It’s a lot of sand .

Greetings all, this is Todd here.

The documentary movie about Michael Jackson in "This is It" has been released in select theaters.

Whether you are a fan or not of MJ, he ceratinly owned the title as The King of Pop.

What other words can you think of that can mean "This is it"?

A few things come to mind, such as "The Grand Finale", or simply, "The End"

On another note...

There is a famous saying: "It Ain't Over Until the Fat Lady Sings", which is a proverb, usually associated with sports.

In sports, you should never celebrate until the game is REALLY over. Another common saying is "It ain't over, till its over."

Since I have been busy of late, I haven't been able to watch the movie yet. Its only out for a few weeks!

Even if I can't catch this movie, at least I can enjoy listening to all his songs at the comfort of home. We will always remember Michael Jackson and his legacy will continue on. With MJ, it will never be over.
