波乱の幕開け!? 実家無し海外在住者の日本滞在記 1日目

私は東京生まれの神奈川育ち

なんだかんだでニュージーランドのオークランドに

居住地を移して30年経ってしまった。

つまり人生の半分以上を

ＮZで生活していることになる。

その間に日本の両親を亡くし

実家も売却され

日本に長期滞在しようと思った時

気兼ね無く長期滞在できる場所は

無くなってしまった。

いや、私1人なら姉の家に

泊めてもらうこともできなくはない。

しかし夫と一緒となるとスペース的に難しい。

今回は姪の結婚式に併せて

夫婦で旅行を兼ねて日本を訪問することになった。

約2週間の滞在だったが

その時の話を遡ってさせていただきたいと思う。

まず初日

ラッキーなことに早朝の出発だったにも関わらず

近所の友人が車で空港まで送ってくれるという。

これは本当に助かった。

そしてオークランドからいざ成田へ。

後になって気付くのだが

途中乗り換えしてでも

最初に福岡辺りまで飛んでおくべきだった。

何故ならその翌日我々は宮古島へ飛ぶのだ。

最初にお断りしておくが

我々の旅程はかなり無駄が多い。

参考になる部分もたまにはあるだろうが

反面教師として欲しいところの方が

きっと多いと思う。

まず最初の無駄はスカイカウチだった。

いやこれはNZ航空の為にもお断りしておくが

私にとっては天国だった。

但し体の硬い大柄の夫にとっては

今後無しということで終わってしまった。

因みにこの時復路もスカイカウチは予約済の

決定事項ではある。

そして成田到着。

この日の宿は成田空港から

無料のシャトルが出ている成田空港近くの宿

価格もツインで一泊8800円と格安。

但し安いには理由がある。

部屋は昭和レトロ感満載の部屋だった。

シャワーは水圧も高く良い。

スタッフはとても素晴らしかった。

フレンドリーだしプロフェッショナルな感じだ。

しかしそこで得たシャトル情報は

説明を受けたモノのとちょっと違っていた。

成田のイオンモールに行きたかった我々

ホテルの方の説明では空港経由で

イオンモールへ行くはずのバスに乗ったのだが

そのバスは空港にもイオンモールにも

停まることもなく

恐らく『成田駅前』に連れて行かれた。

私の計画ではイオンモールで当面必要な

スキンケア商品だの

日焼け止め効果の高いファンデーションだのを買い

回転すしと安くて美味しいというサイゼリアを

ハシゴして日本の洗礼を受けることになっていた。

見事に計画は崩れた。

のみならずシャトルバスのドライバーは

途中何度となく悪態をついていた。

ビックリであるが人間らしくて良いと

夫は何故か喜んでいた。

なんだかんだでショッピングを諦め

割と美味しい焼き鳥屋さんで夕食を終え

ホテル名が明記されたバス乗り場で

シャトルバスを待つも乗ったバスが

自分達の泊まっているホテルには

行かないと途中で気付き

某高級ホテルで降りてタクシーで

ホテルまで行くという波乱の幕開けである。

I was born in Tokyo and grew up in Kanagawa. Thirty years have passed since I moved to Auckland, New Zealand. I have been living in New Zealand for more than half of my life. During that time, my parents in Japan passed away, my family home was sold, and when I wanted to stay in Japan for a long time, I no longer had a place where I could stay for an extended period without worrying. Well, I could have stayed at my sister's house by myself, but it would be difficult with my husband and me in terms of space. This time, my husband and I decided to go to Japan for our niece's wedding and to take a trip together. We stayed for about two weeks, but I would like to go back to that time. First of all, on the first day, we were lucky to leave early in the morning, but a friend in the neighborhood offered to drive us to the airport, which was really helpful. Then we left Auckland and headed to Narita. I realized later that we should have flown to Fukuoka first, even if we had to change planes on the way, because the next day we were flying to Miyakojima. Let me start by saying that our trip was quite wasteful. There may be some points that are useful, but I'm sure there are many things that are cheaper and better to use as a bad example.

First of all, the Skycouch was a waste. Well, I'll decline this for the sake of Air NZ, but the exception was Heaven. But for my husband, who is a big guy and stiff, that means there will be no more. By the way, the Skycouch was already reserved for the return flight, so that was a decision.

And then we arrived at Narita. Tonight's accommodation is near Narita Airport, where there is a free shuttle from Narita Airport. The price is also very reasonable at 8,800 yen per night for a twin room.

But there is a reason why it is cheap. The room was full of Showa retro feel. The shower has good water pressure. The staff is friendly and professional. But here we received the shuttle information, which was a little different from what we were told.

We were happy to have access to the Aeon Mall at Narita. According to the hotel's explanation, we got on a bus that was supposed to go to the Aeon Mall via the airport, but the bus didn't stop at the airport or the Aeon Mall and instead took us all to "Narita Station". My plan was to buy skincare products and foundation with strong sunscreen at the Aeon Mall, and then go to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant and a cheap and delicious Saizeriya restaurant to get a taste of Japan. My plan fell apart spectacularly. Not only that, the shuttle bus driver was swearing many times along the way. I was surprised, but my husband was happy for some reason, thinking it was humane. We gave up on shopping, had dinner at a pretty delicious yakitori restaurant, and waited for the shuttle bus at the bus stop named after the hotel. However, we realized that the bus we got on wasn't going to the hotel we were staying at, so we got off at a certain luxury hotel and took a taxi to our hotel, and so our eventful journey began.
