大阪大学体育会水泳部のブログです!‍今年のスローガンは【百尺敢闘】チーム一丸となり到達しうる極限まで果敢に闘い抜きます!

I would like to dedicate today's blog to the amazing work of the Managers of the swimming team !!

Even thought managers are present in every practice, I had never had the opportunity to see how they worked up close, until today. I must say I am very surprised and grateful for their work.

thank you for your hard work. I'm Jose, a first year doctoral student.

Today's SAB menu was:

I experience the menu from a completely different point of view, not as a swimmer but from the eyes of the managers. I must say that I experience all kind of emotions during this training; excitement, anxiety, tiredness, happiness and even some back pain from standing one hour and a half, jajaja.

As usual the training started with the W-up followed by some specific trainings (kick and pull), during this time I Namiki san explain to me a lot of the work of the managers and the how the menu works (THANK YOU !!) Now I understand that the C in the menu refers to “call the time” and that, that part of the workout won't be written. Also, I understood how the managers give the time to each swimmer and from now on I would It was very interesting for me, to see that the oldest members of the team were really concern about these times and how they were using it to challenge themselves in each hit to improve it each time (Fight! !!)

But the most exciting part was the MAIN, especially since it was cycles of 100 and 50 meters ALL OUT. Here I notice how difficult is to take so many times (for each turn, for so many team members and to write them at the same time). I really like the fighting spirit of all the team members, how they were challenging themselves and between them. I felt like a real competition !! You could even feel the pressure!

Everyone did a great job, and as usual I was so surprised to see such great times, it inspires me to keep doing my best and to keep improving to get my times lower.

Finally, THANK YOU to all the managers for they great work and dedication. Today I realized how difficult and important your work is for the whole team and I am grateful.

That's all for today's practice.

Since this month I started a new motivation system where I track my trainings in a calendar, I would like to talk a little about habits, motivation, and improvement. Tracking my trainings has really help me to keep me motivated and keep doing my best. Now that I see the first month finished, I really feel powered up! And want to continue to do a good work !! Of course, I have to keep improving every day, but I loved the following extract from the book Atomic Habits:

“It is so easy to overestimate the importance of one defining moment and underestimate the value of making small improvements on a daily basis. Too often, we convince ourselves that massive success requires massive action and we put pressure on ourselves to make some earth-shattering improvement that everyone will talk about. Meanwhile, improving by 1 percent isn't particularly notable, sometimes it isn't noticeable, but if can be far more meaningful, especially in the long run. The difference of a tiny improvement can make over time. is astounding ”

So, let's enjoy the process of getting better and not worry so much on the objective, because if we focus on improving a little every day, eventually we will reach our goals !!

Finally, I am planning to go visit my country (Guatemala) on March this year, and I am very excited to see my family and friends, since I haven't seen them in over 2 years. But at the same time is a little But I hope everything goes well and can go visit my beautiful country, meet with my family and friends, and bring a lot of souvenirs.
