先週の木曜日に先生仲間のMr.Sの企画で、アメリカの学校の朝の校内テレビにアメリカおばさんが話すことになった。
日本の現在の事情は皆知っていると思うけど。
以下がおばさんが話した内容です。
「I would like to thank everybody for trying to help out Japan after the earthquake and tsunami hit, especially the United States.
I saw this on the news, but have also heard from my own family who lives in Sendai Miyagi and in Iwate prefecture about how terrible things are over there right now.
Currently over 13,460 people are dead or missing.
Not only are they dealing with the devastation of loosing their homes and possessions, but their health is also being threatened with radiation from the nuclear power plants.
Food is very scarce and people wait in long lines just to receive one bowl of rice per family.
They need Medicine, food, clean water, diapers and toiletries.
Since there is no electricity, they do not have any heat even though it is snowing over there.
Seven people have to share one blanket to a stay warm in the shelters and others are literally freezing to death.
You may think that what you do wouldn’t help, but the little things you and I do make a great difference.
If you bring one dollar on Friday, you can go outside or to the GYM during 8
period for a “Walk and Talk.” The money raised will go directly to help all of those people in Japan. You can have fun and help out at the same time!
Let’s pack the track or GYM to help the residents of Japan.

そして金曜日。僅か５０分で８００ドル集まった。生徒数は３５０人くらいなんだけど。日本のみなさん頑張って！これを「日米協会のインデアナ」がまとめてくれ日本に送ることになりました。
さらに、ある中学生のアメリカ人の女の子が泣きながら私に抱きつき、「あたし、今、お金１７ドルしかない。でもこれ募金する。日本の皆さん頑張って！これで、毛布買ってね。」優しい気持ちに
思わず泣いた私です。

学校の様子はビデオカメラである先生が撮ったので春休み明けに更新したいと思っています。
明日から私の働いているアメリカの学校、日本語学校も春休みです。
