One of the drawings by Leonard da vinci, 'Female head study' is thought to be a study for the angel in 'the Madonna of the Rocks' in the Louvre, Paris.
The eminent art expert Bernhard Berenson called this drawing 'the most beautiful drawing in the world.'
A high-definition copy obviously shows a trace of correction of dark circle (baggy eyelid) under the left eye.
The red line surrounds the dark circle under the light eye, which is masked out with zinc white.
The ajacent left cheek is also lighlighted.
On the other side, the right lower eyelid is not corrected.
This is so called a baggy eyelid.
The left nasolabial fold also seems to be corrected, while the other side is not.
Leonard might have eliminated these signs of agning to express an angel.
The left baggy eyelid of the angel in 'the Madonna of the Rocks (right)' is corrected following the study.
But the right lower eyelid is slightly baggy as is not corrected in the study.
In Futakotamagawa Cosmetic surgery clinic, Tokyo, Japan, we treat baggy eyelids.
