Key Sentence
Doris, that was uncalled for.
（ドリス、それは余計なお世話というものだ）
➫ call for ~「～を要求する・必要とする」
➫ uncalled for「必要とされていない＝不適切な・余計な」
➫相手の態度・言動への不快感を表す典型的なフレーズ
If you describe a remark or criticism as uncalled for, you mean that it should not have been made, because it was unkind or unfair.
□ I'm sorry. That was uncalled for.
□ ...Leo's uncalled-for remarks about her cousin.

R: OK, it's time to practice.
D: You may not use these phrases often in daily conversation. But they are a flag. If you hear someone use these, you know they are upset. OK, let's jump in.
●言葉遣い・発言内容をとがめる表現
There's no need for that.
There's no need for that kind of language.
That type of language is inappropriate.
You can't say things like that.
Take that back.
R: Continuing on.
●相手の言動への注意
「口の利き方に気をつけて」
Watch your mouth.
Watch your language.
D: Let's keep going.
● rude「失礼な」、offensive「相手を深く傷つけ怒らせるような」を使う
That's a bit rude.

That's downright offensive.
➫ downright（まったく・完全に）で強調
R: And our last two.
● respect を使って
You will speak to me with the proper respect.
（適切な敬意を払って私と話すように）
➫ You will ~ は「～するように」という、話し手の「意志」が感じられる威圧的な口調

Typical Expressions in Action
(1) That was uncalled for. You had no right to bring up his past like that.
(2) Take that back. I most certainly do not favor your sister over you. I love you both equally.
most certainly「絶対確実に」
favor ~ over ...「…より～を好む・優遇する・ひいきする」
(3) That's a bit rude. You can criticize his management style without saying he's a bad person.
