Opening Talk
R:Akino Roza here.
D:And I'm David Evans.

D: OK, everyone, it's time for the practice. And today we're keeping up with our praise theme.
R: As we've mentioned in the past, you'll notice that in some of these sentences you can really notice the important words being emphasized. So keeping an ear out for that.
D: All right. Here's our first.
I knew I could count on you.
R: Do you see how David emphasized "knew"? OK, let's try a couple of more.

My Takeaway
THANK YOU! I knew I could count on you.
You did it! I knew you had it in you.
That was an outstanding presentation. You definitely have what it takes.

Dive Deeper
I almost gave up on running. の文。
I almost gave up running.
give up と give up on の違いがあやふやだったのですね。
give up ➤「やっていたことを途中でやめる」
give up on ➤「やる前にやめる」「夢や望みを捨てる」「(人)を見捨てる」
