・・・・・・・っということで、映画【Yesterday】を観て、ビートルズの素晴らしさを再認識してしまっているところです。
映画の中では、モーツァルト並の天才と賞されていましたが、「新しい音楽」としての観点からすれば、あながち的外れな評とも言えません。
だって、エレキギター+ベース+ドラムの組み合わせは、今でもガチの定番ですからね。

映画の中で、黄色い潜水艦のオモチャが出てきますが、彼らの【Yellow Submarine】という曲を知っている若い人はもう少数派なんでしょうね。
ビートルズがアイドル路線から180度方向転換する直前の楽曲とぼくは理解していますが、印象に強く残る曲です。
その歌詞を、長いけれど以下にコピペしておきます。

明らかに当時流行っていたマリファナの影響が大きく、ワケ分からん歌詞です。^m^
ぼくは、ずっとYellow=アジア人と勘ぐっていて、白人社会が直にアジアンに飲み込まれるんじゃないかと、穿った解釈をしていました。

今なら分かるのです。
イギリスは、ずっとドイツのUボートの脅威に晒されていた時代を経験しています。
潜水艦というとUボートなのです。
その潜水艦が黄色って？
実際のUボートは灰色でした。
・・・・・・・
こんな話をブログに書いて理解が得られるのは、ヤッパ半世紀前の同年代だけなのかしら？
