Collins Dictionaryに下記のような”おかしな”例文が載っていた。
「after an adjective of quality such as small, tall, agreeable, pleasant, funny that is used in combination with too.」
①The child was too small to reach the switch.
②The knife was too blunt to cut the string.
上記の文は以下のように書き換えられる。
①The child was too small,so that s/he couldn't reach the switch.
②The knife was rtoo small,so that it(the knife) couldn't cut the string.
何？！the knife cut the stringだって？意思のない無生物であるknifeがまるで意思のあるかのように「モノを切る」というのか？
So that (but not in order that) can also mean ‘with the result that’:
The birds return every year around March, so that April is a good time to see them.
