品詞の数

品詞の数が10だと解説しているYoutube動画があった。この動画の言う事を真に受けてはいけない。そもそも一体全体、どこの誰が10だと言っているのか？出典を明らかにしていない。出典不明の内容など信じるのが間違いだ。

英語の品詞は９つと考えるのが妥当なのである。何故なら、皆さんが品詞を見極める際、必ず品詞がわからない場合がある。そういう時、貴方は英英辞書に頼ることになる。品詞が10だとしている英英辞書が存在するのか？

もし、そういう辞書があるなら品詞は10ということにするのも良い。しかし、そういう辞書がないならやめた方がいいのである。

品詞が９つという立場の英英辞書はCambridgeとMacmillanだ。おそらくOxford、Longmanもそうだ。

さらに、CambridgeUniversity Press社のEnglish Grammar Todayという文法書は品詞が９つだと明記している。もっとも異論はあり、イギリスの名門大学UCLは７つだと解説している。
