マイケル、12歳～13歳の頃に録音された
モータウンからのソロアルバム『Ｂｅｎ』の中の・・・
「People Make The World Go 'Round」を訳してみました～
その内容に、驚愕しました。。。。
この曲は、1972年に録音され・・
アメリカは、こんな時代でしたーーー！！
ベトナム戦争、フェミニズム、反核、エコロジー、マイノリティ文化、家族の崩壊、
ウォーターゲート…激動の60年代。
高度成長期の真っただ中にあった1960年代後期から70年代のアメリカは、
経済的には、高度成長政策の影響でインフレが進んだ。
著しい経済成長の影には、大気や水質、土壌を汚染する環境を顧みない産業の姿があった。社会的には、泥沼化した60年代のベトナム戦争を背景に、根深い人種差別に端を発する社会の亀裂や対立、それに伴い犯罪の増加が顕著になった。
キリスト教や白人支配への反発、人種差別やフェミニズムが強く絡み、
若者を中心にアングラという、主流派の文化、上層文化に対する、
カウンターカルチャー、下層文化が生まれた。
そして・・・
マイケルは、歌うのです。。
世界は、
回転木馬のように、ぐるぐるぐる回ると。。。。
あ～！！！！ たしかに回っている！！
この曲の時代から、約40年後、ただいま2013年現在。。
戦争は繰り返され、自然は破壊され、社会は荒廃している。。
ぐるぐる回っているだけ。。
この時代のアメリカの姿が、世界を覆い尽くそうとしているようにみえる。。
