You will be... You will... be...

Okidoki-SenseiのEnglishブログ-relaxed

Hi, this is a quick one for the fans out there. (Yes, I am busy. Yes, I care about you. :)

OK, first sentence is cool.

The second sentence is not.

Two ways are OK:

You CAN feel relaxed with the sweet fragrance.

OR

You WILL feel relaxed with the sweet fragrance.

OK, TA TA for now!

And see Yoda say "You will be... You will... be..."

Sorry about not posting!

OH the holiday season! Sometimes you have to visit people that you don't feel like visiting.

You have to eat foods that you don't feel like eating.

You have to wake up earlier than you feel like getting up!

OOOOOHHHHHHHH THE HOLIDAY SEASON! It is always an adventure.

Okidoki-SenseiのEnglishブログ-off-n-on

Well I bet you are used to seeing "on and off" well this is "off and on." They mean very different things.

"On and off" is usually done with a button. Turn it on and then Turn it off.

"Off and on" means basically "sometimes" or "not always."

Examples:
"Off and on I go to Starbucks."
"Off and on I listen to 80s music on Youtube."
"Off and on I study Japanese."

Well, I didn't say it, but I will now:
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Jonny's Mistakes

So I went to Jonathan's Bread (ジョナサン ブレッド or zo-na-sans boo-redo) the other day, and found a bunch of English mistakes.

Here they are:

This one is quite simple, right? "Home Made" should be "Homemade" and "Dessert" should be "Desserts" - right?!?! And they could use a smaller font.
Jonathan's Bread
Homemade Desserts

Here is the next one:

Ummm.... dietary fiber just doesn't sound appetizing to eat, AT ALL! YUCK!!!

So how can we write this? I suggest:

"Hamburg and Pilaf - contains lots of fiber!"

OK, one more!

Okidoki-SenseiのEnglishブログ-jonny1

So many places mentioned here! "Tasmania" and "Hamburg" Well, these should not be places, right? They should be adjectives and foods! Plus we need some restaurant English in there like "topped with" for the sauce. So:

"Tasmanian Salisbury Steak topped with snow crab cream sauce"

Wow, was that like 3 lessons in a row in one post- YUPPERS!にひひ (That means yes!)

With Fun? Who is he, some Chinese guy? Hahahaha!

When you use "with" it sounds like it will be with a person.

Let's play soccer with Jim. So I imagine Fun is some Chinese guy. OK, bad joke.

Anyway, it needs to be FOR fun.

"Let's talk together for fun!"

Jaa-mata!
