子供向け（Kodomo muke） / For children

I learn English by watching a program for children because my English level is 2-3 years. I knew The Sesami Street, my language exchange partner told me about a program for children which is called Barney. It seems that Barney is newer than Sesame Street.
As a matter of fact, Even in the program for children, I don't understand most of what they are saying in this program
But I can master this song. It is very charming how Barney's sings his song
Let's try imitating Barney's way of singing

The program for children is " Okaasan to issyo "in Japan.
But I couldn't find this on Youtube because there are copyright issues.
I wonder if I could recommend other programes for children in Japan which are "Anpan-man" ,"Shimajirou".

私の英語は２－３歳レベルなので、子供向けの番組を見て英語を勉強しています。
セサミストリートは知っていたのですが、Language Exchange パートナーからバーニーという番組を教えてもらいました。
バーニーの方がセサミストリートより新しい番組だそうです。

正直、子供向け番組でさえも何を言っているかほとんど分かりません
しかし、この歌はマスターしました。バーニーがとてもチャーミングな歌い方をするんです
真似してみてください

日本の子供向け番組と言えば、”おかあさんといっしょ”ですよね。
でも著作権の問題で、Youtubeで見つけることができませんでした。
他の子供向け番組だとアンパンマン、しまじろうがいいかな。

シャイ(1) / shy(1)

Japanese people are said to be shy. Japanese people don't think themselves shy in Japan. As soon as Japanese people go abroad, they would be called shy and there would be misunderstanding.

I couldn't explain about shy before. so I found it...

【First, Language skills】

Japanese people are not sure about speaking English because they have less vocabulary and worry about their pronunciation and grammer. Japanese culture makes Japanese people hate to be embarrased.

【Next, hold back (from) 】

In Japanese culture people are not able to say everything out of reserve when they talk to other people. Also Japanese people tend to feel more at ease when everyone is the same. Being different from others might remind them bullying at their office or school. As a result, I think they refrain their claim and action to keep their relationship.

【Finally, The public eye】

Japanese people are the type that worry about being in the public eye. It is very important for Japanese people so that they do not show their feelings openly because they are scared of the public eye.

As a result , It seems that Japanese people are quiet, don't say clearly what they want = shy from foreigners.

日本人はシャイと言われています。日本にいると自分たちのことをシャイだとは思っていません。外国に出た途端日本人はシャイだと言われ、誤解を生むのかな？と思います。

先日、シャイについてうまく説明できなかったので、考えてみました。

【まずは、語学力】

ボキャブラリーの少なさ、発音や文法を気にして英語を話す自信がない。

日本人は恥をかきたくないという文化があります。

【次に、遠慮】

日本では相手と接する時に遠慮をする文化があります。

そして他人と同じということに安心する傾向があります。他人と違っていることが学校や職場でイジメにつながることもあります。その結果、相手との関係を保つために自己主張や行動を控えてしまうのかな、と思います。

【最後に、他人の目】

日本人は他人がどう自分を見ているかということをとても重視しているので、恐がって自分自身を相手にすべてさらけ出さない。

このようなことから日本人は外国人からはおとなしくて、自分の意見をはっきり言わない＝シャイだと思われてしまうのかなと思います。

The first time I traveled abroad about 15 years ago. I went to Canada.

When I arrived at Canadian air port, I was most surprised ...

The hole which is toilet seat is too big. I had to support myself with my both hands by the toilet seat because my hips ( bottom ) was about to fall into the hole.

I know, I was 5kg thinner before.

I have heard that the big bottom is regarded as sexy in foreign countries.

I haven't heard anything like that in Japan...

I think Japanese people still tend to prefer women who are slender.

My body is unbalanced, the lower body is bigger than the upper body, and my hips are becoming larger year after year.

I think Canadiian toilet would fit my bottom now.

...so that's why I started jogging. I may give up too soon,so I wrote it.

トピックス / Topics

I mainly do the Language Exchange on skype and e-mail.I had not used skype until when I had started the Language Exchange. I found that Skype is a very useful too for our conversation.

My three partners have different personalities and we discuss different topics. It's common to speak on topics that everyone has many funny and interesting topics. Also they know a lot of things about Japan. The topics we talk about are broad.Sometimes we discuss private things, culture, and politics.　Sometimes we might just talk about learning English a little. It is fun to speak English and I beleive to speaking English is the best way for my learning English.

I always laugh out loudly during our conversation. Some old expressions I remember were"Amazing!", "Surprise","It's funny" before when I heard funny stories.

That's hilarious! (超ウケる！)

The other day, when we talked about the movie, the partner suddenly said "Yakuza"(it means Japanese gang) I was suprised!!! I was surprised they used "Yakuza" in other countries because "Yakuza" is a Japanese word .

I told him as much as I knew, and reserched about it on wikipedia examined by yakuza because I do not have Yakuza's friends. I pass writing here what I've learned their culture because it is very scary. It is wise not to approach a Yakuza directly..., at first just check wikipedia or ask me. I'll tell you about them, as much as possible.

I often see foreine people using "lol" in their e-mail . I thought lol is like banzai pause which is raising both hands．But I found that lol is short for laugh out loudly. It seems to be the same case as when we put (laughs) at the end of the Japanese e-mail. (laughs) is out of date, now It seems we put " w " at end of sentence .　w is a "warai" in "wa" is tha the ferst letter of the alphabet. I am a dinosaur. w
