Winter is here and with it lower temperatures for us to endure for the coming weeks and months. Out of the storages and wardrobes come parkas, down jackets, heaters, hot patches, electric blankets and the like to help us withstand the cold.
How do you deal with the cold? I for one, actually welcome colder weather and try not to fight the chill as much as I used to, trying to adjust to it rather than putting myself in the heat zone. Balance is key to adaptation. Make sure you’re not overheated or frozen to the bone and you give yourself a better chance for a healthy winter.
What has worked for me to start my day is warm clothes, exercise and cold showers followed by a combo of a hot ginger jelly drink and an English breakfast. Hot ginger jelly, however, works a treat at any time of a cold day 😉.
They were a little more than 100 yen but still a nice surprise; another little taste of home found locally.
McVities are the UK's favourite brand of biscuit selling over five times that of other brands.
They were founded in Scotland in 1830 by Robert McVitie and now produce over twenty types of biscuit, about ten types of cake along with other snacks such as crackers.
These pictured are the chocolate covered digestives and, while a little overpackaged for the Japanese market, seem to taste the same as back home.
Here's hoping for more British foods to make it to Japan!
The autumn season is clearly over. All of us have felt it and rushed to complain about the chill while pulling out our winter jackets. Even so, the temperatures are not nearly as wintery as 0 degrees and it’s still a great time to go out for a walk and feast your eyes on the colours of nature. These autumn-slash-winter changes cannot be missed. They entertain and inspire in a sort of artistic way without being loud and snobbish, but yielding to a nice harmony with the surroundings. Why not seize the chance for a stroll in the park and have a look around before this colorful show fades in the greyness of deeper winter?
