I have been to Odaiba before during my work travels. I always loved the view of Tokyo Bay with illuminated Rainbow Bridge and a multitude of boat restaurants floating leisurely on the calm water. Aqua City, one of my latest destinations was full of cafes, takeaways and gourmet restaurants some of whom boasted terraces overlooking the Bay, giving a broader perspective and so, allowing for better photos. It felt restful and serene sitting outside, under a starry canopy, enjoying the cool gentle breeze while savouring a Margarita and a glass of house red.

Homework from school to do over the summer holidays has changed since I was a kid. I remember reading books and then writing essays, and completing various maths and spelling drills, etc.

Nowaday they've got kids baking shortbread!

They were very tasty by the way. (note: were - past tense). And I'm reassured that they contained no extra preservatives, etc. (again past tense; I can assure you that these tasty treats no longer exist).

I'd never have imagined that baking would be set for homework. But why not? It teaches valuable life skills to kids.

For next year's school summer homework I propose basic personal finance skills such as budgeting and tax returns!

What do you think kids should be learning at school?

Tokyo has always provided me with plenty of running routes to explore. It has been fun sightseeing experience combined with affordable and often challenging exercise. However, there came a point where I no longer felt motivated to go out into the same streets full of cars, familiar park locations and neighbouring concrete urban sceneries. It had to be something different – a refreshing change. So, one day I found myself cycling far from home to Tamagawa. I was in for a treat! The tranquility of the place and open spaces it offered was in stark contrast to the confined city developments of central Tokyo. Finally, a truly relaxing break and breath of fresh air in the city that never sleeps!

turned into a drink! Yay!

You might think that it was quite sickly or gloopy, but actually it's quite a thin drink with a light taste. Pop it in the freezer for an hour so that it gets really cold and you have a very refreshing drink for the summer.

I've only seen the lemon flavour so far, but it would be nice to try apple or something else too.

Get on it Morinaga! Give me apple! (Pretty please ...)
