Many countries around the world celebrate Christmas and each have their own traditions.
A tradition in many British homes is listening to the Queen’s annual speech at 3pm on Christmas day. The first Queen’s speech was broadcast in 1952 and it typically reflects on the year’s events.
Most British families open their presents on Christmas day, but the royal family, in honour of their German heritage, open them on Christmas eve in a tradition that goes back to Victorian times.
