we went to eat oyster with baron (owns a record store) and feme today. we ate oysters, turban shells and squids, and they were all tasted really great. moreover, it was really cheap!! it was only 1,875yen (briefly $16.00) per person with full of oyesters and shells more than enough for four people. that's really a good deal.
i got "bali nuts" as a souvernir. i really like the name as the "bali (bari)" in japanese dialect in some area means "very." so, that means "very nuts." :)
i put some of my records in the shelves but i recently found out that part of the floor underneath the shelves is sinking..... well, what i should do about that.
my stomach has been upsetting for the last few days..... is it because i ate too much of instant ramen noodles? maybe, i need more of bifidobacterias :)
well, people say this is the one for the floor. i think this is that kind of 12", and aftc's mix is the one for the floor. "melody" is like mid-90s house. i could understand as the mix is done by grant nelson.
"risk some soul" is deep vocal house with synth, guitar and vocals on top of 4/4 beats. i think this can be used in any atmosphere such as clubs, cafes, etc. don atom's remix is the reconstruct version with electro kind of break beats. it's like cute track.
overall, the sound balance for each frequency is really good.
"keep on" is the 4/4-beat track featuring tabla. it's like exotic spacelike sound. it could be felt so good if i hear it outside. the mix version is without synth and more like underground.
"the dancer" is another feel-so-good track, with piano and spacelike synth are featured. and female poetry reading like narrative is used in the track. personally, the point makes me feel a bit disappointed is that the poety reading is done in english and it's gotta bit of japanese accent.....
this is dark and heavy track. tempo is higher than the original hip hop beats. personally, these remixes are rather be categorized as break-beat stuff. these tracks make people dance sedulously rather than get everyone so excited.
buddy feat. the jungle bothers, monie love, queen latifah &q-tip
side aa
1. the magic number (1-2-3 mix)
2. ghetto thang (ghetto ximer mix)
you know what it is, this is de la soul. i don't listen to hip hop stuff much but they are one of those few favorite groups. i think it is because their style is not so aggressive. let's party party!!
b1. fascinated groove (la paresse...) iwamura manabu remix
this is the fascination's track which is formed by a vibraphone player, masami watanabe, and vocal and lyrics were by pierre barough. pierre's whispering voice on top of up tempo jazz is really nice. flip side is the 4/4 beats version mixed by manabu iwamura.
i don't know much about but this 12" is by vision questa from japan. probably, this belongs to deep house category. anyway, i like both the vocal version and without vocal version. original tracks emphasizes more of percussion and acoustic guitar, and vocal is added on top of them. remix work is done by frankie feliciano but whenever i hear "feliciano," i always imagine jose feliciano
first (by-talk).
again, i don't know the original source but this is the reconstruct version of batucada like percussion stuff. the original source is same as the one used in "give it up" by the goodmen released in 1995. i picked up this one because this is the classic i experienced in real time.
this is the mash-up done by mike dixon. i think mash-ups are well established by now. those who were used for samples were not so happy about that though. as a result, i won't write details but please guess by track titles. with regard to clearance of copyrights, mike dixson said in the article i read that most of old jazz staff do not have copyrights. also the other artist said that if the artist was sued by infringement of copyrights, then that would be really great as the track got a lot of attention from the public.
this is the one by dj icey i used to buy all the time. i didn't imagine that i could buy his record in japan!! the style/genre used to be called "break beats" at that time but description of break beats in japan is different from what i have known. i still get confused by that. bpm is pretty much faster than those i bought long time ago buty anyway, this is surely a killer break beats!!
i was suddenly craving for munchies late last night, and i went to a convenience store close to my place. there weren't many selection of products as the store was kind of small but i bought fair amount anyway.
of course, i could not finish all of them but i could have done if i were young. well, i think i can do this kind of thing only during new year holiday or something. at times, like once a year, i want to buy and eat a lot of muncies.
except for going to shrine, i did nothing special during new year break but i think it's nice to be just relaxing.
