we had lunch at a cafe/restaurant the other day. we were gonna go to a hash house but there was the cafe right next to the hash house which we never knew. so, we decided to go there. as you see, i ordered green coconut milk curry. the lunch was 700yen. considering the fact we ate at a cafe and i had an extra-large dish, the price is somewhat cheap, don't you think? and the curry was really tasted good! i just love curry!!
a cigarette case and a lighter. the case is the 3rd one i bought. i have been using cigarette case for a long time. i bought this one in singapore. merit of using the case it that cigaretts won't break even if i put the case in the back pocket of my pants. demerit is.....only 14 cigaretts fit in the case. a pack of cigarette i smoke contains 20 cigaretts
the lighter is hand-curved and made with silver. it's an antique like 30 years ago (could be more). i bought this lighter at flea market while i was in the states. it was like 10 bucks or so but it would cost a lot more if you wanna get one like that now, especially in japan.
very interesting and cool album from hifana. this album is a cd and dvd set (i have not yet checked the dvd yet though). their music is pretty cool but i don't know how to describe it. it's not like down tempo. it's not like abstract hip hop. it's not experimental. it's not dub. it's not like hip hop. but it's like all of them mixed in one. yes, it's like all in one!! those who like old mo' wax
/ ninja tune
stuff dj kentaro
and outside parties may like hifana.
i was kind of interested in this cd too and since i just found it at the store, i bought it. it's a mellow and tender bossa nova. yumi matsutoya (famous japanese female singer/song writer) sings in japanese. pretty short song (3'58") though.
tatsuo sunaga
's remix is an instrumental version, well arranged and it's mild. k.u.d.o's remix is like kinda laid back with down tempo beats. eric clapton and hf's guitar sounds are so nice, and make me feel so comfy. of course, the original is mellow and spacious. comfy.

this is the sergio mendes album which i haven't bought for a long while. i read an article about this albume somwhere and i was kind of interested in this. and then i just found at the store today, so i bought it. with regard to the songs, i think they are pretty cool with different versions from the originals. many artists participated in this album. even though will.i.am produced this album, it's not only hip-hops in this album, and that's a good part for me 'cause i get to listen to different versions other than hip hop.
this album is totally different from those mash-ups (of course!). well arranged. two thumbs up!!
these are the tracks by boo williams and glenn underground, so you could probably imagin what these tracsks sound like. bass kicks sounds like chicago house, and keyboard melody sounds like chicago house. of course, keys were played by glenn underground, uplifting yet pretty emotional, my favorite.
deep collision has some percussion sounds with synth melodies which sounds like 70s (no objection, thats how i felt). beautiful track.
i wrote that my favorite style of music always change but there is one i always like, chicago house.
"kholi number" starts with back-spin sounds with drums, trumpet, electronic piano, bit of percussion, etc. it's a jazz breaks and it's gotta bit of swing jazz taste. of couse, indian flavor is added with bit of sitar and vocal samples.
"water samba" is pretty cool track with tribal kinda percussion and floating melodies of synth. bass sound in latter half of the track gives you more of tribal taste.
this is a dub house with poetry-reading kinda male vocal and purcussion. melody lap organ like sound with echo is also good. niiiiiiccccceeeeee!! acid like synth is added on acid bub which is really dddddduuuuuuubbbbbbyyyyyy!!
this is unknown track by unknown artist but really good, it sounds like garage-classics. i bet there is an original sourse sampled to use in this track but i don't know. it's gotta male and female chorus singing "i see the sun." pretty good.
flip side is also unknown. it's starts with femal vocal, singing "justa little lovin'....." and beats come in. it's a vocal house and pretty good too.
this track has heavy bass line with feel-the-underground like hi hats and percussions. strings-like synth melody is added in latter half of the track and this is really good. this track reminds me of parties in warehouses back in the good old days of underground and dark/cold atmosphere (yet a lot of energy inside).
bleep kinda synth sound with efffects is added in b1, and it gives you real head banging if you listen to this track right in front of huge speaker. ambient version reminds me of laying down in upstairs filled with bean-bags (spundae in san fran, back in the days).
dark yet spacey floating effects are used in the track "dreadscapes." I also like not-so-fast 4/4 beats. "darker" is more like trippy track that old german like synth sound is used with echo. this one's gotta sold bass kicks.
dub archanoid trim remix starts with dubby drum like sound and other parts like guitar, bass kicks, hi-hats fade into the track. really dubby. i really like guitar sound!! the track goes back to bubby drum like sound in the latter half which gives you some chill out atmosphere which is also good.
what i always think about when i go out to buy records is that my favorite style of music changes whenever i go to record shops. generally, it's no differnce but still big change in my mind. it's like i buy different genres of music every time i buy records. because of this, when i compile into one cd, i always run out of records at the time i feel like i'm doing well, you know. i don't have enough records in one genre to compile in one cd..... oops! well, i have a lot of records but some of them are old, and i don't wanna put them in new cd.
this is a latin house but bit mellow (for me) yet funky enough! it's the acoustic guitar, trampet, synth and femal vocal singing in protuguese over 4/4 beats. a2. has heavier drum kicks. b1. has hevier bass line and conga sound is added. well done deep house remix. synth melody features in latter half sounds pretty good too. you may like it, jf?
we again went to eat oyster with different fellow this time.
oyster was bigger than the oyster we ate last weekend. it's really filling.
like always, we bought seasonings such as bolognese sauce, mayonnaise, yakiniku sauce, ketchup, etc. simple seasoning like lemon or sugar/soy sauce is good but western-style seasonings are pretty good too. just try it.
i planned for this year's business scheme. there will be some overseas business trips in this year as well but not so many times like last year.....but you never know.
