Whist I have been writing my blog series on the 'Good Shepherd' in honour of my Dad more flowers arrived. On Sunday, I go to night church and I sit with my friend Janet and her husband Mark. Janet is a very good friend. She has provided me with a lot of love and support over this last year. She is loyal, steadfast, strong and trustworthy. A friend whom I love dearly and whom I can always depend.
Church is one of my most favourite activities. Meeting with Gods family, I love to sing, read Gods word the bible and listen to bible teaching. Last Sunday was no different, except it was the day after the first anniversary, that my Dad heard the call of the Good Shepherd and passed into glory. I sat and listened, I sang and read Gods word with the rest of the congregation, but thoughts of my Dad were very near to my heart.
I looked at a photo of him that my brother sent and I showed it to Janet. Tears began to form and roll down my cheeks. I loved my Dad. I cared for him through his illness last year, together with my five brothers and two sisters. The tears kept coming as we sang "In Christ Alone", a song that his grandchildren sang at my mothers funeral. I searched for a tissue in my bag.. nothing! I whispered to Janet, "have you got a tissue". Of course she had tissues! She is the most organised person I know. She put her arm in my arm and said, "are you ok". The tissue was saturated and covered in my makeup. I looked at Janet and whispered again, "have I got panda eyes". She checked my eyes for dark rings of mascara. "No" she said, "no panda eyes, just teddy bear eyes" . That made me smile. I slipped away from church early.
The next day was Monday and I was working in the garden. Janet pulled up in her car. She had a pink bunch of flowers for me. They are like roses. Very delicate. She gave me a big cuddle and made sure I was ok.
The flower's continue to remind me that God is faithful. I hold my ring finger with my other hand, "The Lord is My Shepherd."

*Thank you to the 80 people who read my series on the Good Shepherd. It makes my heart glad x
