I met Mika about 18 years ago when she moved next door to me. Over the years we have become the best of friends and although we are from two different nationalities, we are like twins. We share a faith in Jesus. We love art, cooking, gardens, flowers, nature and the list goes on. We catch up often and over this year, she has loved and cared for me, as I have gone through a difficult season of life. I now value and appreciate her friendship more than ever.
We have enjoyed sunrise walks together through the summer and winter; Milly too. The walk begins with me texting Mika to say I am leaving and I meet her at her house. We walk and chat about the stuff going on in our lives and about our faith in Jesus. She is a wise and positive person and a very good listener. Milly is her normal happy self...always running.
We watch the sun rise as we walk and then we find a nice place to sit on the sand. We pray about all the things that are on our hearts. Then its back to Mika's house for coffee and breakfast. Mika is a good cook and her home is very relaxing with a beautiful garden. Mika will make the coffee first, while I curl up under a blanket on her couch. Then she will make a yummy breakfast. Her family gets called out from their beds and we eat breakfast together.
18 years ago, I gave Mika a Japanese bible. This year she is reading it from beginning to end. I am encouraged with all that she is learning, as we talk through the stories that she has read.
I love Mika very much. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She is very generous, kind and compassionate and I am so blessed to have such a loyal and steadfast friend.
