Illuminated mind

An inspiring article I read during lunch break.
Really, we should stop living our lives like little cute hamsters in the whirling hamster wheel.

Early morning I made salad!

I gradually accept the idea that life will be so much better if we stop self-victimizing.
Blame this, blame that, and see ourselves as victims in the entire situation.
Self-victimizing is prolly the reason why I suck at friendship, and any other situations that I feel energy-draining and unpleasant.
We think we are the victims and thus, we look at the situation in all sorts of negativity.
But truth be told, we arent. We chose to be victims, and we always choose not to.

It's true, either be miserable or be motivated.
The choice is not in your hands, it's in your mind.

I don't want to puke today! 2

I don't want to puke today!

Consequences of broadcasting your desires

Don’t just write down a list of goals for yourself. Share your key goals with others. Let your friends and associates know what you desire to manifest or achieve, especially for desires that may come to you through your social circle.

When you do this, you can expect certain logical consequences.

First, some of your friends will be supportive of your new direction. They may offer suggestions, resources, or other assistance to help you get there. If you keep quiet about your goals, they can’t help you. But if you speak up, you give them the opportunity to help you move forward. And of course when your friends tell you about their goals, you can do your best to assist and encourage them as well.

On the other hand, some of your friends will respond with neutrality. Perhaps they don’t care about your new direction, or they simply can’t help you with it. This is not a problem. It’s just a situation to be accepted.

And most likely some of the people in your life will reject your new direction. For whatever reason they won’t be able to accept it. They may react with sarcasm, criticism, or other forms of non-support. This is actually beneficial to you because these people are revealing that their presence in your social circle is incongruent with your new direction, so now you know where you’ll need to make some cuts. It doesn’t matter if they’re friends or family members — they’re making it clear that they can’t accept your new direction and that they’re unwilling to support you on this journey. It’s generally a waste of time to try to convince them, so don’t get clingy. Simply let go, and drop the unnecessary drag on your forward momentum. Say to such people, “I understand that you can’t accept my new direction, but I’m doing this anyway, so if you’re going to oppose me in this, then I’m going to have to drop you from my life. Either you learn to accept this part of me, or we’ll have to each go our separate ways and let go with love, okay?”

We live in the shoddy house of our own making

"Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don’t. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever." - Philip Adams

I had a nice chat with a fellow uncle colleague yesterday, which is really rare I would say, because we hardly talk unless either of us is so pissed with our bosses and needa bitch about it, hahaha.
Anyway, what I took away from short convo is that, all life's choices are trade-offs. Okay, not that I am new to this 'concept/knowledge', but I haven't really given it much of a thought.
He told me about migrating to Shandong because cost of living in sg is too high. Being the same old naive me, I of course rebutted and said, 'Where got? I think okay leh. Still can survive what.'
To prove his point, he asked me qns like,' how much you think you'll earn?' (I said 3000, and I mean it), and what I want to do in the future, and if 3000 minus CPF is really enough to support my family, and my daily expenses, and when I'm old, will I be able to support myself, blah blah.

Then it really got me thinking if I would succumb to society norms, accept a mid-level office job and trying to make ends meet while forgetting what I wanted to do.
But I'm not so worried now, because life's really full of trade-offs.
Riches VS Health
Family Time VS Career Success
Dreams VS Survival
I don't mind getting a lowly-paying job doing something I love while living a simple, minimalist life.
(I'm so sorry LV, Gucci, Coach, Cartier, you guys are awesome, but I see nothing in your bags, rings, clothes, etc.)
My greatest fear is explaining to those why I chose to live my life this way and putting up with the sniggers and sneers of others (I haven't trained my ego well enough yet).
I know this life is mine and I don't need to care about others, but can we really do that??? Probably when I'm in my 40s, I can do that. But in my 20s, I might not be mentally strong enough to do so.

Okay, I really needaaaaa studdyy my japanese...........
Ciao!
