本日は、実践ビジネス英語 Lesson22 The Woes of Traveling（旅の災難）の第1回目です。
■ woes
「災難」、「災い」という意味で、やや古めかしい響きがあります。
■ one's heart goes out to
「･･･に同情する」、「･･･を気の毒に思う」という意味です。
■ throw someone's whole business trip out of whack
「（人の）出張旅行全体の調子を乱す」という意味です。
なお、out of whackあるいはout of killerは「調子が悪い」という意味です。
次のような例文が挙げられていました。
The vending machine is out of kilter.
■ no whereto be found
「どこにも見当たらない」という意味で、nowhere to be seenも同義です。
■ go into serious panic mode
「相当なパニック状態に陥る」 という意味です。
■ Tell me about it.
口語で「その通りです」という意味です。
■ something decent to wear
「きとんとした服装」という意味で、decentはadequateやappropriateなどと同義です。
