今日は、Senior Moments（物忘れ）の第4回目です。
■ consensus
「合意」、「意見の一致」という意味で、the general opinion, the agreement among a certain groupということです。
■ calorie-free
「ノンカロリーの」という意味で、○○-freeのハイフンの前にある○○（通常、望ましくないこと）がないことを意味します。tax-free，duty-free，toll-free，alcohol-free，sugar-freeなどといった表現があります。
■ run on empty
「ガス欠で走る」、「エネルギーが底をついている」という意味で、食べ物（food）やお金（money）といった資源（resource）が不足している場合にも使います。次のような例文が挙げられていました。
This NPO really needs a loan. They are running on empty due to the drop in donation.
※ NPO：Non Profit Organization（非営利法人）
■ shot
形容詞で「駄目になっている」という意味で、ruinedと同義です。また、someone's nerves are shotと言えば、they are extremely nervousという意味になります。
■mile-long to-do list
「やるべきことが長々と続くリスト」を意味します。
■ juggle
「（2つ以上の仕事や役割などを）首尾よく果たす」という意味で、 keep two or more activities going simultaneouslyということです。複数のボールや棒などを巧みに操る人（Juggler）がいますが、こうした光景を思い浮かべると理解し易いですね。
■ take a [its] toll on
「･･･に大きな損害（損失）をもたらす」という意味です。次のような例文が挙げられていました。
All of this overtime has really taken its toll on her health.
■ too much on one's plate
「やるべきことを山ほど抱え込んで」という口語で、「プレートの上にモノがいっぱい載った状態」をイメージすると理解しやすいと思います。また、 have a full plateと言い方もあります。
