■ There're serious challenge that need to be met.
「取り組む必要のある課題」という意味です。
■ You don't have to look any further than here in Manhattan.
「～を見れば事足りる」という意味です。look no further thanという言い換えも可能です。
■ to speak of
「取り立てて言うほどの」という意味です。very little of somethingとかnothing worth mentioningと説明されていました。例文として、以下のようなものが紹介されていました。
We didn't make any progress to speak of.
■ too true
「(遺憾ながら)その通り」という意味で、very trueやabsolutely trueと同じ意味です。
■ Middle-classs people in Manhattan are hanging on by a thread.
「危うい状況にある」という意味で、hang by a threadとも言います。barely getting byとか barely survivingあるいはsomething is in danger of failingと言い換え可能であると説明されていました。
■ The high cost of living has driven a lot of middle-class folks out of Manhattan.
「drive out：追い出す」という意味で、chesed outと同義であると説明されていました。evictなども同義と思います。
■real killer
「一番の難題」という意味です。something very hard to deal with or surviveと説明されていました。
