[awfully]は副詞で「とても」＝very
（例）she is awfully kind to me.
[the 比較級〰,the 比較級〰]は、「〰であればあるほど、〰になる」
（例） the more people need it , the more expensive its price is.
[recede]は動詞で「徐々に後退する」 反意語は[proceed]
（試験でよく目にするのはproceedのような気がします。）
[distance]は名詞で「距離」だが、「遠距離」を表すにも使う。
[in the distance]はで覚える。
（例）I saw the town in the distance.（遠くに町が見えた。）
・・・場面は変わって、ジェイズ・バーで鼠が僕に金持ちに対する自分の考えを語るシーンから。
「なぜ金持ちが嫌いだと思う？」

[stand]は自動詞で使う場合は「立っている」だが、
他動詞で使う場合は「我慢する」という意味を持つ。＝bear・・・standは口語的な表現。
（例） I can not stand to wait for three hours.
「金持ちなんて何も考えてないからさ。」
it is because the rich do not bother to figure out anything.
[the 形容詞]で「〰な人」・・・[the young] [the poor]などが代表的。
[bother]は動詞で「悩む」
[figure out]は動詞句で「分かる」
ただ、シンプルに[the rich do not think anything.]でも良い気がしますが・・・。ダメですか？
「奴らは大事なことはなにも考えない。考えているフリをしているだけさ。」

[worthwhile]は形容詞で「価値のある」

[pretend]は動詞で「フリをする」・・・[pretend to〰]で覚える。
