場面は僕が幼少期の自分を振り返っているところ
小さい頃、僕はひどく無口な少年だった。
I was a terribly quiet boy when I was a little.
[terribly]は副詞で「ひどく」
両親は心配して、僕を知り合いの精神科医の家に連れて行った。
My parents were so worried [that] they dragged me off to see a psychologist friend of theirs.
[worry]は動詞で自動詞なら「心配する」、他動詞なら「心配させる」だが、
受け身で[be worried that〰]で「〰を心配する」が英作文では便利だと思います。
「不安に思う」の形容詞[anxious]で表現する場合は[anxious for〰]を使います。
（例） I am anxious for the result of my son's test.
[drag]は動詞で他動詞なら「引きずる」、自動詞なら「引きずられる」
[drag off]は「無理やり引っ張っていく」
[psychologist]は「心理学者、精神科医」
昔ね、あるところにとても人の良い山羊がいたんだ。
Once, long ago, there was a friendly billy goat.
山羊はいつも重い金時計を首から下げて、ふうふう言いながら歩き回っていたんだ。
Now the billy goat always wore a heavy gold watch around his neck,
and he huffed and puffed just walking around.
[huff][puff]は動詞で「息を切らす」
ところがその時計はやたらに重いうえに壊れて動かなかった。
Yet not only was the watch real heavy, it didn't even work.
[yet]は副詞で否定文をともない「まだ〰していない」が代表的な使い方だと思いますが、
本文では接続しとして使用し、「けれども」で使用している。＝but, however
[not only was the watch real heavy]は倒置の形になっていて、本来は
[the watch was not only real heavy]です。
[even]は副詞で強調です。
[work]は動詞で「動く」の意味を表しますが、英作文では重要な単語です。
（例） this radio doesn't work. （このラジオは動かないです。）のように使います。
意外と書けなかったりするので要注意です。
そこに友達の兎がやってきてこう言った。
Just then his pal, the rabbit came by and said
[pal]は名詞で「友達」
ねえ山羊さん、なぜ君は動きもしない時計をいつもぶらさげてるの？
Say, Billy, why do you always wear that busted watch aroud your neck?
[bust]は動詞で「壊れる」・・・相当頻度の低い動詞です・・・brokenが簡単で良いと思います。
重そうだし、役にも立たないじゃないか。
It sure lookes like a clunker, and I bet it doesn't give you any good.
[sure]は副詞で「間違いなく」
[bet]は動詞で「賭ける」もしくは「確信をもって賭ける」
そりゃ、重いさと山羊は言った。
It is heavy all right. said billy goat.
でもね、慣れちゃったんだ。時計が重いのにも、動かないのにも。
but, I am used to it.
Both it is weighing a lot and it is not working.
[weigh]は動詞で他動詞なら「重さを計る」自動詞なら「重さが・・・である」
How much does the percel weigh？「その小包の重さはどれくらいですか？）
It weighs 300g.
[weight]は名詞で「重さ」 gain や lost を伴って、体重が増えた、減ったになる。
ある日、山羊さんの誕生日に兎はきれいなリボンのかかった小さな箱をプレゼントした。
One day, the rabbit brought the billy goat a small box tied with a ribbon for his birthday.
[tie]は動詞で「結ぶ」
それは、キラキラ輝いて、とても軽く、しかも正確に動く新しい時計だったんだ。
The present turned out to be a brand-new watch,
all bright and shiny, right, and keeping good time.
[turn out]は「分かる」
[brand-new]は「新しい」
[keep good time]は「正確に動く（時計）」で、「この時計は正確に動かない」は
The watch doesn't keep good time. で簡単に表現できます。
山羊さんはとっても喜んでそれを首にかけ、みんなに見せて回ったのさ。
The billy goat was so happy and he hung the watch about his neck and went around showing it to everyone.
君が山羊、僕が兎、時計は君の心さ （先生のセリフ・・・君は「僕」で僕は「先生」を指している）
You are the billy goat and I am the rabbit and the wach is your mind.
