アメリカンディゴの花が、松茂町の月見ヶ丘海浜公園で咲いたと言う話を聞いたので、今から観に行きます。写真の印象は、天狗の鼻みたいで、唐辛子の実をい大きくしたような色形の花ではないでしょうか。

アメリカンディゴの花を観に、国道11号線を南進し、松茂町の広島ランプで左回りで県道に降り、県道28号を東進し、はま寿司のある交差点で右に曲がり（直進に近い）、県道187号線を東進し、松茂町の月見ヶ丘海浜公園へ向かいます。

月見ヶ丘海浜公園の「駐車場」の直ぐ東側に在った、「案内地図プレート」の前に来ました。

反時計回りに、周囲を見回します。

周囲は、駐車場も含めて美しいです。

「案内地図プレート」を見ます。

案内板の後ろに広がる公園は、東側と南側に海岸があるようです。

案内板の左後ろの北側から南側への順に、コテージ、スポーツ広場、ビジターセンター・総合案内所並びます。今回は、総合案内所とその東側は行かないので説明は省略します。

一番北側には、東西に並んだ10軒を擁するコテージが設けられています。

「コテージ」から小道を挟んで南側には、東西に1カ所ずつ「炊事場」を設けた、「バーベキュー広場」が設けられています。

「バーベキュー広場」と「スポーツ広場」の間には、「大ステージ・月の満ち欠け池」に続く道が延び、途中「トイレ」が設けられています。

辺りを散策しながら進むと、コテージとバーベキュー広場の間の小道を東進し、2つ目の炊事場辺りで、左側に並んでいたコテージとバーベキュー広場の東端になります。と同時に、赤いバナナを思わせるような花を咲かせた木々が出迎えてくれました。

遠く、公園の東南の角には、公園のシンボルとなる小高い丘の「月見ヶ丘」が見えます。この丘の標高は約11mあるそうです。丘の上には、ライト兄弟の飛行機の羽を彷彿させるようなモニュメントが見えます。

遠く、公園の東南の角の、公園のシンボルの「月見ヶ丘」と、モニュメントから、目線を元の東側の炊事場辺りに戻します。

左側に並んでいたコテージと右側に広がっていたバーベキュー広場の東端になります。

先ほど出迎えてくれた、赤いバナナを思わせるような花を咲かせた木々を観て行く事にします。

これが、アメリカンディゴの花です。和名は、海の紅色の豆と書いて、カイコウズ（海紅豆）と呼びます。鹿児島県の県木であり、アルゼンチンと、ウルグアイの国花でもあります。

南アメリカのブラジル原産といわれていて、日本には江戸時代に渡来しました。

落葉広葉樹の低木または小高木です。

日本では街路樹や庭木として使われています。

花期は6 - 9月頃で、よく目立つ蝶形の赤い花を下向きに咲かせます。

果実は豆果で、莢の長さは10～15センチcm程です。

辺りを、散策します。

十分に、アメリカンディゴの林を堪能した後、再度、公園シンボルの「月見ヶ丘」視線が戻りました。

公園シンボルの「月見ヶ丘」から視線をコテージに向けます。コテージの海際（東側）には、コテージ専用の小道の入口と、案内板が建っており、コテージ利用者しかこの小道は使えないようで、小道の入口にもチェーンが掛かっています。

結果、元来た道を散策しながら変えることと致しました。

嬉しいことに、観る方向が反対になっただけで、色々な事に気付かせられました。計画的に立てられた建造物と、植栽された木々や草花のバランスの取れた美しさを感じ取れたことに加えて、自然に発芽したと思われる草花も公園に溶け込んでいて、これが、自然が本来持っている優しい美しさを醸し出していました。

駐車場の前まで帰り再度辺りを見回して、帰ることとしました。

この公園と海岸は人口の物です。開園時の草木は全て植樹されたものでした。しかし、年の経過とともに、予期したり予期して居なかったりした草木が生育し、これを、人々が全て排除するのではなく、バランスを考えながら手入れを日々続けていた結果が、ここに在るのだろうと思いました。

人々と草木と自然の絆に感謝です。
