かなり前に紹介していたオードリー・ヘップバーン 「麗しのサブリナ」セリフ集。続きを久しぶりに紹介します。
かなりネタバレなので、観ていらっしゃらない方は...写真だけ楽しんでください。
前回の続き、パリの料理学校コルドンブルーでのシーンです。
シェフの先生が強烈で？いい感じです。
Bonjour, mes dames et messieurs!
「ボンジュール！
レディース アンド ジェントルメン！」
Yesterday we have learnt
the correct way how to boil water.
Today we will learn the correct way
how to crack an egg.
「昨日我々は正しいお湯の沸かし方を学びました。
今日は正しい玉子の割り方を学びます」
Voila, an egg!
「卵を割る！」
Now an egg is not a stone.
It is not made of wood.
It is a living thing with a heart.
So when we crack it
we must not torment it.
「卵は石ではありません。木でできているわけでもありません。
心を持っているんです。
だから割る時は苦痛を与えてはいけないのです。」
We must be merciful and execute it
quickly, like with the guillotine.
「手早くしなくてはいけません。
ギロチンみたいにね！」
It is done with one hand.

サブリナは片手で卵を割るのがうまくできません。

サブリナはアメリカにいる父親に手紙を書く。
それをサブリナの父が使用人仲間に読んで聞かせます。
"Dear Father, or Cher Papa as we say over here."
"Isn't my French getting good?"
「親愛なるお父さんへ、もしくはシェ・パパー
ここではそういうのよ。
どう？私のフランス語上達しているでしょう？」
"We finally finished our four-week
course in sauces, thank goodness!"
「やっとソースの4週間のコースを終わったわ。
神様ありがとう！」
"Soups were tough
but sauces just about killed me."
「スープのコースははタフだった。
でもソース作りにまいっています。」
"I almost flunked my hollandaise.
It kept separating on me."
「なぜか分離しちゃうのよ」

場面はアメリカへ。デヴィッドへの思いを断ち切らせるためにサブリナをパリへ送り出したサブリナの父親と使用人仲間同士でサブリナのデヴィッドへの恋心について会話をします。
Too much vinegar.
Does she mention David?
「酢をいれすぎなんだよ。
サブリナはデヴィッドについて何か書いてないのかい？」
ここでライナス外出のベルが鳴ります。
Mr. Linus is ready to go into town.
「ライナス氏がそろそろ町へ行くころだ」
- What does she say about David?
- Not a word.
「デヴィッドについては何か書いてる？」
「いや、一言も」
No, wait. Here's something.
「ちょっと待ってくれ、ここに書いてる」
- "I don't think of David very much."
- That's good.
『デイヴィッドのことはあまり考えません』
『いいね』
- "Except at night."
- That's bad.
『夜以外は』
『それは悪い』

『彼の写真を捨てることにしたわ』

- "Please mail me some Scotch tape."
