南デンマークでぐっすりと休んだ次の日、北部のフェリー乗り場に向かいました。フェリーはStavangerの町まで通常11時間、夜間航行です。出発時間は夜8時半。船酔いの危険を考慮して、フェリーで夕食をとらずに出発前に済ますことにしました。でもフェリー港Hirtshalsまでは行くのに十二分の時間があったので、その前にデンマークの本当に先っぽ、Skagenという町を訪ねることにしました。下の地図で黒の楕円で囲んだ所がSkagen。ちなみにフェリー港、HirtshalsとStavangerの町は黒の長方形で印をつけています。
After we slept nicely in southern Denmark, we headed to the north to the ferry habor. The ferry normally takes 11 hours to Stavanger, through the night. The time of departure was 20:30. Thinking about the risk of sea sickness, we decided not to eat on the ferry, but before the departure. We had enough time to travel to Hirtshals, so we visited a town called Skagen, which is located at the very, very the tip of Denmark. I marked Skagen with circle in the map below. Hirtshals and Stavanger are marked with rectangles.
その日の天気はイマイチ。でも我ら、ラッキーにも外にいる時にはひどい雨には降られませんでした。Skagenの街歩きもできたし、Skagenの先っぽの先っぽにも行くことができましたよ。
The weather was not good that day. But we were quite lucky for the timing. Whenever we were outside, it was not raining. So we could see the town itself and also visited the very tip of Skagen (the very, very, very tip of Denmark.).

この町で色々とこれからの買い物を終わらせた後、フェリー港に向かいました。
After that we had done the necessary shopping and headed to the ferry habor.
フェリー港ではStavanger／Bergenと書かれた約８列もの車の列ができていました。もちろん国境を越えるわけですから、国境管理ブースがあって、パスポートを提示します。かなり長ーい間待たされた後、ようやく我らの番がやってきました。
There were about 8 lines of cars waiting to get onto the ferry indicating "Stavange/Bergen". Of course, since we would cross the border of a country, there is border control to check the passports. After waiting rather long, it was finally our turn to be at the border control.
管理官が訊ねました
The guy asked,
どこの町まで行くのですか？
"Which distination are you going to?"
私：Stavangerです。
I said: "Stavanger."
管理官：メッセージが行ってると思うんだけど、このフェリーはStavangerには行かず、Kristiansand行きになりましたよ。
Guy: "I think you received the information that this ferry will not go to Stavanger but only to Kristiansand."
Ankodrop：！！えっ！？
Ankodrop: "! what!?"
はい。その晩は嵐の予報だったのです。フェリー会社は全ての長距離線をキャンセルして、皆、Hirtshalsかr北海を挟んだ対岸のKristiansand行きのフェリーに再予約されたのです（ちなみにKristiansandは上の地図でオレンジの楕円で囲みました。）。実際のところ、私は”重要なお知らせ”というタイトルのSMSもメールも受け取っていました。でも内容をさらっと読んだだけで、出発時間が変わったことだけ（8時半から7時45分になった）をチェックしていたのです。あほ。。Kristiansandまでの所要時間はたったの3.5時間。我ら、Kristiansandの町で夜中に放り出されることに。。
Yes, stormy weather was expected that day. So the ferry company canceled all the long distance lines and we were all re-booked to the ferry to go only to Kristiansand, on the other side of North Sea from Hirtshals (marked with the orange circle in the map above). I actually had received SMS and also email about it with the title of "important message". But I went through it very quickly and noticed only the change in departure time (20:30 ->19:45). The duration to Kristiansand is only 3.5 hours and we would have to get out from the ferry in the middle of the night....
というわけでいきなりKristiansandで、その日の宿泊先を探さなければならないことに。。予約サイトでラッキーにもそこそこのホテルを見つけ、無事に予約、遅いチェックインもアレンジできました。ふぅ！
We suddenly needed to arrange the accomodation on the night at Kristiansand. Through the booking site, we were lucky that we found one and booked with the arrangement of late check-in. Phew!
フェリーの上で、雨の上、寒い。。。
On the ferry, raining and cold...
Kristiansandについて、早速その宿泊先に向かいました。到着した時に見たものは、なんと外国のナンバープレートの車の列！きっと皆、私達と同じフェリーで遠くまで行く予定だった人たちなのでしょう。このホテル、いきなりその日の夜中にたくさんのお客さんが来て大変だっただろうと思いますが、的確に処理されていました。少なくとも我ら、無事ノルウェーに到着しました。ただ、到着地はかなり違ってましたけどね。。。
After arrival in Kristiansand, we headed to the accomodation. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a big queue of foreign cars, those probably had the same situation with us. The hotel did a very good job to accept so many people for short notice. We had at least safely arrived in Norway, vene if the location was a bit different......
