結構大変な作業ではあったものの、キッチンと改装する床の取り壊しまではスケジュール通り順調に進んでいました。壁から全てを取り除いた1日後の月曜日、壁の塗装業者がやってきました。ここには一階と二階、全ての壁と一階から二階への階段のペンキ塗りをお願いしていました。我々6年前に引越ししてきた時、一階の壁のペンキ塗りは自分たちでやったんですよね（ちょうど産休の時でした。赤ちゃんのBoy2を連れて通ったっけな。）。でも二階は「いつかやろう」と手をつけずに早6年・・・。ま、そんなもんですわな。
Until demolishing kitchen and floor of affected area, it was tough work, but we were more or less on schedule. On monday, one day after we finished removing everything from the wall, professional painters came. We asked hem to paint all the walls in the ground floor and the first floor, as well as the stairs to go to the first floor. Actually when we moved into this house, we painted the walls on the ground floor by ourselves (I remember it was still in my maternity leave. I was working with Boy 2 who was still a little baby). But we didn't touch the walls on the first floor, leaving it for "some day". Of course that "some day" never comes.
塗装業者がやってきて、仕事が始まりました。我が家の壁はコンクリートの上にベースの壁紙が貼られていて、その壁紙にペンキを塗ってあったようです。床と巾木を取り除いた時にこのベースの壁紙を何箇所か破いてしまっていました。二階の壁紙なんかはもう剥がれてきている箇所もあって。。この塗装業者さん、全てを点検してくれた上にどうすればいいか、臨機応変に対応してくれることになりました。ありがたや。。
The painters arrived and started working. Our wall was covered with base wall paper, on top of concrete, that had been painted over. When we removed the floor and the plinth, we damaged some parts of the base wall paper. Some parts of the wall paper applied on the wall on the first floor were peeling off as well. So, the painter checked all the damage and they kindly decided what to do. We were very happy.
物事は思うように運ばないというのが現実。Dropさん、その日のお昼頃、塗装の業者さんがどうしてるか様子を見に帰ってきた時、ショッキングなシーンに直面します。違う業者さんが2人やってきたのです。彼らは床材を貼ってくれる業者さん。我々、床の仕事はその週の金曜日に始まるとばかり思い込んでいたのでびっくり！実はDropさん、床工事の予定確認のメールをよく読んでおらず、仕事は金曜に始まるのではなく、その日、月曜日に始まって、金曜日に終わるようにスケジュールされていたのでした。Dropのショックぶりと言ったら・・・。
But things did not go as smoothly as we had hoped. Drop went back home in the afternoon to see how the painters were doing and he encountered a shocking scene. Two more guys knocked on our door. They were the workers to place the floor material. We believed the work ould start on Friday in that week. Drop missed the information in an email from the floor shop that the work will start on Monday and be finished on Friday.... The shock that Drop got was enoumous...
もちろん、床の工事と壁のペンキ塗り、同時進行はできません。Dropさん、床の業者さんに謝罪して工事の延期をお願いするしかありませんでした。このことで我らの改装工事、大きな遅れが生じることに。。
Of course, laying floors and painting walls cannot be done at the same time. Drop apologized to the floor guys and asked for rescheduling... This caused a big delay in our house renovation.
でも結局、塗装業者さんの仕事が1週間以上かかったのです。彼ら、ダメになっている壁紙を全て剥がしてくれて、新しいものを貼ってくれ、その上に綺麗にペンキを塗ってくれました。良かったことは壁と階段がものすごく綺麗になったこと。
But in the end, the painter took more than whole week to finish our house. They kindly removed some old wallpaper and put new wallpaper one that they then painted over. Good thing was the walls and stairs became really really beautiful.
階段のペンキ塗り後。Natはオランダ語の濡れてるという意味（ペンキ塗りたて）、Wietはフリースラント語です。笑
After stairs were painted. "Nat" is Dutch for "wet" and "wiet" is Frisian.
