ある日、アーニャはデパ地下へ行った。今日はバレンタインデーなので、紙袋に入ったチョコレートが販売されている。どこまで義理でどこから本命なのか区別つきにくいパッケージが並ぶ陳列棚に買い物客が寄ってきて次々と買い求めていく。
アーニャは小学生の時に参加したパーティーを思い出した。クラスの女児から一個もチョコレートを貰えない男児の発案で開催されたプレゼント交換会である。フルーツバスケットなどゲームをしてからプレゼント交換をするのである。いい歳した大人がまだそんなことをするのかと思いながらも、ファミリーサイズのアソートチョコレートやチョコレートケーキ、洋酒、酒のつまみなどを買って帰宅した。
家に帰ったアーニャは、ティータイムにした。日が暮れると、さっきのケーキをデザートに酒の肴が並ぶテーブルで両親と一緒に晩ごはん食べて寝た。
将来、社内でどんなバレンタインデーを迎えるのか想像するアーニャであった。
One day, Anya went to the basement of a department store. Today is Valentine's Day, so chocolates are being sold in paper bags. Shoppers flock to the display shelves lined with packages that make it difficult to tell which ones are legitimate and which ones are favorites, and buy one after another.
Anya recalled a party she attended when she was in elementary school. She is a gift exchange event held at the idea of a boy who cannot receive a single chocolate from the girls in his class. She plays games such as fruit basket and then exchanges gifts. Although she wondered if an adult would still do such a thing, she bought a family-sized assortment of chocolates, chocolate cake, Western liquor, and alcoholic snacks and headed home.
Anya went home and she made it to tea time. When the sun set, she ate dinner with her parents at a table lined with the cake she had made for dessert and alcoholic drinks, and then went to bed.
Anya was imagining what kind of Valentine's Day she would have at her company in the future.
Un jour, Anya s'est rendue au sous-sol d'un grand magasin. Aujourd'hui, c'est la Saint-Valentin, les chocolats sont donc vendus dans des sacs en papier. Les acheteurs affluent vers les présentoirs bordés d'emballages qui rendent difficile la distinction entre ceux qui sont légitimes et ceux qui sont préférés, et achètent les uns après les autres.
Anya se souvient d'une fête à laquelle elle avait assisté lorsqu'elle était à l'école primaire. Cet événement d'échange de cadeaux était l'idée d'un garçon qui ne pouvait pas recevoir un seul chocolat des filles de sa classe. Ils jouent à des jeux comme la corbeille de fruits puis échangent des cadeaux. Je me demandais si les adultes de cet âge feraient encore de telles choses, mais je suis rentré chez moi après avoir acheté un assortiment familial de chocolats, de gâteaux au chocolat, de liqueurs occidentales et de collations au saké.
Anya est rentrée chez elle et a pris l'heure du thé. Quand le soleil s'est couché, j'ai dîné avec mes parents à une table garnie du même gâteau en dessert et des boissons alcoolisées, puis je me suis couché.
Anya imagine quel genre de Saint-Valentin aura lieu dans l'entreprise à l'avenir.
