See Siang Wong, piano. Sir Roger Norrington &LPO
This album covers the rare works by Beethoven when he was from 13 to 20 years old. He still learned the MUSIC under Christian Gottlob Neefe in Bonn.
These early works are not credited his own Op. number by the composer himself. All of them have been rarely recorded except in the “Complete Works”..
Starting from the “Three Sonata”(Kurfürstensonaten) WoO 47 composed when he was 13 years old, it was 2nd year since he started learning with Neefe, the pianist See Siang Wong introduced several short pieces.
“Piano Concerto No.0” is conducted by well-known Sir Roger Norrington with London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) .
Mozart, Mendelssohn, showing the precocious musical talent left the works at their early ages but those music are not inferior to the later works, rather the outburst of talent are found out here and there on the score.
We can confirm and taste the “Identity” of the greatest composers in history.
The repertoire in this album are full of hope for his future, the motifs are different from his later works with heavy , gloomy feeling, of course.
However, even while listening to this album without any information, we can easily estimate these music must be created by Beethoven.
Noticed, Beethoven was Beethoven even if he was teenager.

このアルバムで取り上げられている作品は、全集以外では全く演奏されないか、ほとんど演奏されないという、レアなベートーベン曲集。生まれ故郷のボンにいて、ネーフェ先生に教えてもらっていた頃、13歳から20歳ぐらいまでのピアノ作品群。
もちろん、自身の作品番号はついておらず、WoO番号が付けられているものになる。
多少は知られている13歳で作曲した『選帝侯ソナタ1番〜3番』から始まり、幾つかのピアノ小品。また、14歳の作曲『ピアノ協奏曲0番』、これは、ノリントン指揮&ロンドン・フィルという一流どころとの共演で、RCAというメジャーレーベルならではのクオリティーの高さを見せている。
超早熟だったモーツァルト、メンデルスゾーンも同様だが、若いときの作品だからと言ってそれが後期作品に比べて劣っているというわけでは決してない。むしろ、才能のほとばしりが、そこかしこにストレートに出ていて、それぞれの「らしさ」を味わうことができる。
このアルバムの曲は、後年の曲と違い、シンプルで重くて暗いということがない。なんといっても未来への希望に満ち溢れている中学生、高校生ぐらいのときの作品だ。
しかし、聴いていると、やっぱりベートーベンだなというのがはっきりわかる。
ベートーベンはどんなに若くてもやはりベートーベンなんだ。
