菊の節句 和菓子

9月9日は五節句の１つ、重陽の節句(菊の節句)。菊の花を飾り、菊酒を飲みかわして邪気を払い、互いの長寿を願う習慣は形を変えながら現代まで伝えられてきました。『着せ綿』という 節句前夜に菊に綿を置き 露を染ませて身体を拭い清める習慣に因み、白綿をのせた様な菊花型の和菓子を目にされる事も多いでしょう。

厳しい暑さの中で迎えた今年の重陽の節句。シナモン餡を菊花形の外郎で包んだ『着せ綿』と、ラムレーズン香るかぼちゃ餡の月が菊花の雲間に浮かぶ錦玉羹『隠れ月』を作りました。

September 9 is the chrysanthemum festival. On the day of the chrysanthemum festival, we decorate the chrysanthemum flowers and drink chrysanthemum sake to avoid the evil. I made two kinds of Japanese sweets. The first is the chrysanthemum-shaped cinnamon-flavored rice cake confection "Kisewata". The other is an agar confection containing moon-shaped pumpkin sweet bean paste and chrysanthemum petals "Kakure-Duki". The flavors of rich cinnamon, rum-raisin and pumpkin match well with various drinks.
