陸上自衛隊・西部方面普通科連隊(西普連 / WAiR)とアメリカ海兵隊・第1海兵遠征軍(第11海兵遠征部隊 / 11MEU)との毎年恒例の日米合同水陸両用軍事演習｢アイアン・フィスト2016｣­での、陸上自衛隊の81mm迫撃砲、89式小銃、ミニミ軽機関銃の長距離射撃訓練、小­隊攻撃訓練。

US-Japan joint amphibious exercise Iron Fist 2016 of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Western Army Infantry Regiment (WAiR) and United States Marine Corps I Marine Expeditionary Force (11th Marine Expeditionary Unit).
Japan Ground Self-Defense Force conduct a long range live fire and platoon attack use the L16 81mm Mortar, Type 89 Rifle, MINIMI Light Machine Gun.
Exercise Iron Fist 2016 is one such opportunity, allowing Japanese soldiers to train with U.S. Marines to enhance their bilateral amphibious capabilities.
