「正しい歴史認識が具体的な行動で示されることが必要だ」 韓国の尹炳世（ユン・ビョンセ）外相は１１月２７日、ソウル市内での講演で、日本政府にこう要求した。これを聞いて、韓国側がいう「正しい歴史認識」とは果たして何かと考え込んだ。 それはきっと、自分たちに都合のいいように過去を美化し、粉飾した「韓国の韓国による韓国のための歴史」なのだろう。とても付き合いきれたものではない。
そんなことを思いつつ同日夜にある会合に出たところ、韓国から日本に帰化した呉善花（オ・ソンファ）拓殖大教授と久しぶりに会い、平成９年１月のあるエピソードを思い出した。 当時、慰安婦問題をめぐるパネルディスカッションを取材し、パネリストの一人だった呉氏のこんな発言を紙面で紹介した。 「私は強烈な反日教育を受けた世代で、日本人がどんなにひどいことをしたかという本をたくさん読んだが、『従軍慰安婦』という言葉は聞いたことがなかった。貧困家庭の親が娘を売ったという話は少しは聞いたが、強制連行の話などなかった」呉氏の出身地は韓国・済州島で、済州島は吉田清治氏という「詐話師」が“慰安婦狩り”を行ったと偽証し、それが世界に広まって大問題となった舞台である。
そこで生まれ育った呉氏も、全く慰安婦の強制連行など聞いたことがなかったという点が興味深かったため、コメントを記事で引用したのを記憶している。 ところが、このごく当たり前の発言に対し、韓国当局は激烈な反応を示した。記事が掲載された日の夜、呉氏から筆者にこんな相談の電話がかかってきたのである。 「済州島の実家や親類の家が、韓国の公安に一斉に家宅捜索されました。何も出てこないのは分かっていての嫌がらせだと思う。どうしたらいいでしょうか」 筆者は、「そのことも書いて韓国当局の非を鳴らしましょうか」と述べたが、このときは家族に災難が降りかかることを懸念した呉氏の意向で記事化は見送った。 韓国としては、何が何でも済州島で慰安婦狩りが実施されたことにしたかったということか。呉氏の発言は、触れられたくない「不都合な真実」だったようだ。
当時、すでに吉田証言がデタラメであることは知られていた。にもかかわらず、慰安婦問題で被害者として日本を非難し続けたい韓国は、後生大事に吉田証言を守ろうとし、呉氏の言論封じを狙ったのだろう。 こんな国が「正しい歴史認識」とやらを振りかざし、朴槿恵（パク・クネ）大統領自らが世界で「日本は悪い国だ」と“告げ口外交”を繰り返しているのだからあきれる。 呉氏は新著、『なぜ「反日韓国に未来はない」のか』（小学館）の中でも次のように記している。 「私は韓国で生まれて２６歳まで韓国で生活していた間、村の女を軍や総督府の官憲が強制的に連行したといった話は一切耳にしたことがない。また、私がインタビューした植民地世代韓国人も『一人としてそのような様子を見たことも聞いたこともない』といっている」
一方、朴大統領は１１月４日、英ＢＢＣ放送（電子版）のインタビューで慰安婦問題について「『過ちはない』として謝罪する考えもなく、苦痛を受けた人を冒涜（ぼうとく）し続ける状況では（首脳会談をしても）得るものはない」と語り、こうも強調している。 「歴史認識について日本の一部指導者が今後もそういう発言を続けるなら、会談しない方がましだ」 苦痛を受けた人を冒涜し続ける指導者とは、いったい誰か。当てはまる人物が思い当たらない。間違いないのは、誤った歴史認識を抱いているのは日本側ではなく韓国側だということである。（あびる るい）
