>The Emutbal (also attested as Yamutbal) first appears clearly in the historical record
>during the early Old Babylonian period. While Amorite tribal names are documented in
>Ur III administrative texts (late third millennium BCE), including forms such as ia-a-ma-tu,
>ia-a-ma-ti, and ia-a-ma-ti-um (associated with Yahmutum/Yamutum), these are not
>directly linked to Emutbal/Yamutbal. Such Ur III attestations reflect the broader
>presence of Amorite elements in Mesopotamia prior to the collapse of the Ur III dynasty.
