逸ノ城 (いちのじょう) 関 (西前頭2枚目、湊 [みなと] 部屋) が初めての幕内最高優勝を果たしました。おめでとうございます。
Ichinojo (逸ノ城関) (West margashira 2 [西前頭2枚目], Minato Stable [湊部屋]) became the grand champion in the makunouchi division (幕内最高優勝) for the first time in his career. I congratulate him.
今場所 (令和4年大相撲七月場所) は平幕優勝になるだろうと家族と私は予想していましたが、その通りになりました。
My family and I predicted that, in the Ozumo July Basho this year (令和4年大相撲七月場所), a hiramaku rikishi (平幕力士: rikishi in the makunoichi division other than komusubi [小結], sekiwake [関脇], ozeki [大関: the second-highest rank for rikishi], and yokozuna [横綱: the highest rank for rikishi]) would be the grand champion. Our prediction proved correct.
NHKによる優勝インタビューへの逸ノ城の受け答えは、正直で好感が持てました。インタビューに慣れた力士と違って、余計なことを言わず、自分の考えを率直に述べたのが良かったと思います。
I liked Ichinojo's honest replies in the grand champion interview by a NHK reporter. Unlike those rikishi who are accustomed to being interviewed by the media, Ichino answered questions in a simple and candid fashion.
逸ノ城関はモンゴルの遊牧民の出身で、もともとの本名はアルタンホヤグ・イチンノロブでした。彼は令和3年 (2021年) 9月に日本国籍を取得して、本名は三浦駿 (みうら たかし) となりました。鳥取城北高校に相撲留学して以来、これまで12年程度日本にいることになります。言葉も習慣も環境も食べ物も違う日本に移住して、日本に適応するのは大変だったと想像しますし、日本人になることにも相当の覚悟が必要だったことでしょう。
Ichinojo comes from a Mongolian nomadic clan. His original real name is Altankhuyagiin Ichinnorow. In September of Reiwa 3 (2021), he became a Japanese citizen and took the new real name of Takashi Miura (三浦駿). Since the time of enrolling at Tottori Johoku High School (鳥取城北高校) for learning sumo, he has been in Japan for nearly 12 years. I can only imagine how difficult it has been for Ichinojo to move and adapt to Japan, a country where its language, environment, customs, and food are entirely different from those of Mongolia. Moreover, it must have taken him much careful thinking and resolve to decide to be a Japanese.
逸ノ城関は健康に気を付けてよく稽古すれば、その大きな身体を生かして大関、横綱になるのも夢ではないと思います。今後の一層の活躍を期待しています。
By being careful about his health and practicing and training hard and taking advantage of his massive physique, Ichino may be able to attain the rank of ozeki (大関) or yokozuna (横綱). Now that he has become a makunouchi grand champion, I wish him greater success in his sumo career.
