Oho (王鵬関; Otake Stable [大嶽部屋]) ended this January basho of Reiwa 3 (2021) (令和3年一月場所) with the score of 5 wins and 10 losses. It was good for him that he won the bout today (Sunday, January 24, Reiwa 3 [2021]), which is the last day (千秋楽) of this basho.
十両としての最初の場所は残念ながら勝ち越しはなりませんでしたが、捲土重来 (けんどちょうらい: 失敗からの巻き返し) を期待します。彼の御祖父さんである、昭和の大横綱の大鵬 (たいほう) 関なら「最初の十両の場所でうまく行かなかったぐらいでがっかりするな」と言うでしょう。これからも応援します。
Oho did not manage to score kachikoshi (勝ち越し: more wins than losses in a basho) in his first basho as a juryo (十両: the lower-ranking division of salaried rikishi [関取]) rikishi. However, I expect him to make a comeback and emerge stronger. Taiho (大鵬関), his late grandfather who was one of the best known and highest-achieving yokozuna of the Showa era (昭和の大横綱), might tell him, "Don't get discouraged just because you didn't make it in your first basho as juryo." I will keep rooting for him.
