豊昇龍関 (立浪部屋) は将来を期待している若手力士の一人です。彼は多くの人に第68代横綱朝青龍の甥として知られています。顔も叔父さんによく似ています。また、青いまわしがよく似合います。令和2年九月場所では、中日まで4勝4敗で、後半戦では黒星が先行し7敗まで追い詰められたこともありましたが、場所最後の三日間に三連勝して8勝7敗の勝ち越しで終わりました。叔父さんは新入幕の場所では9勝6敗だったので、残念ながらそれには及びませんでしたが、新入幕での勝ち越しは立派です。
Hoshoryu (Tatsunami Stable) is a young rikishi whom the blogger roots for and wishes to see moving up in banzuke (rank). He is known to many sumo fans as the nephew of Asashoryu, the 68th yokozuna. His facial features bear strong resemblance to those of Asashoryu. In addition, his blue mawashi (belt) looks good on him. In the September basho of Reiwa 2 (2020), Hoshoryu's record at the end of the eighth day was 4 wins and 4 losses. In the latter half of the basho, his losses outnumbered the wins at one point, but he won three bouts in a row in the last three days of the basho and finished the basho with the score of 8 wins and 7 losses, which is kachikoshi (more wins than losses in a basho). He did not match his uncle's record of 9 wins and 6 losses in the first basho as a rikishi in the makunouchi division, but the score of 8-7 is a fine achievement.
豊昇龍関はもともとレスリングをやっていたので、足腰が強いという印象を受けます。令和2年九月場所では土俵際での逆転で勝った取組が何番かあり、大した身体能力だと感心しました。
Hoshoryu seems to have a strong lower back and legs because he was a wrestler. In the September basho, he won a few bouts despite being pushed to the edge of the dohyo, which must have been a result of his strong physical ability.
彼は朝青龍の甥であることが相当な重圧になっていると推測します。それは有名力士の身内の宿命でしょうが、それにどのように対処するかは経験で分かっていくでしょう。また、叔父さんから毎日のように叱咤激励されていることでしょう。いずれ叔父さんの地位だった横綱になれるように頑張ってほしいです。そして、相撲では叔父さんの良いところを見習って、鍛えてほしいですが、叔父さんのように土俵の外で問題を起こして相撲人生を台無しにすることがくれぐれも無いように願います。
Being Asashoryu's nephew must be a heavy burden on him. It must be a burden on any rikishi to be a blood relative of a high-achieving rikishi. Hoshoryu will no doubt learn how to cope with it through experience. In addition, he must be receiving a pep talk from his uncle virtually every day. The blogger would like to see him try hard so that he can attain the rank of yokozuna, his uncle's rank, someday. In sumo, the blogger hopes that Houshouryu will learn all he can learn from his uncle and keep trying hard. However, there is one thing that he should NOT emulate his uncle: causing problems outside the dohyo. That proved his uncle's undoing, and Hoshoryu must NEVER tarnish -- or end -- his sumo career that way.
