We feed some frogs with blackworms, which were out of stock. Thus, before the Christmas break, we were waiting for the last blackworm shipment's coming.

I had a phone call from the office where packages were delivered that was saying (I thought) "there was a blackworm box leaving in the frog room".

I went to the frog room, but there was no blackworms, instead, found that an alarm was beeping.

????

What I knew later was that the guy actually said "there was an alarm going off in the frog room".

Retrospectively, I guess I probably could catch only sounds like "there was" "a" "rm" "ing" "in the frog room", which my brain automatically filled gaps judging from the situation and translated into "there was a (blackwo)rm (box leav)ing in the frog room". How funny my brain did. In the first place, "leaving" should be "left" even if this was the case. So, the combination of my poor English hearing ability, grammar knowledge and my expectation made this strange sentence.
