野党は「米国より中国に近づきたい」と宣言せよ 本心を「違憲」で隠すのは卑怯だ
Opposition Should Admit It Prefers Relations with China over the U.S. – Hiding True Intentions Behind “Constitutionality” Is Cowardly

【ニッポンの新常識】 Common Knowledge Revisited 56

In December 1991, the Soviet Union, the world leader of the socialist movement, collapsed. Contrary to the flowery words concerning a “fair and equitable society,” a socialist society produces a minority privileged class and a large number of lazy people, corrupting the people and the society, and leading to internal collapse.

 日本でも戦後、共産党や社会党は国を資本主義陣営から離脱させ、社会主義陣営に入れたいと考えた。一部の学生や労働組合は熱狂的に支持したが、国民の大半は拒絶した。賢明な判断だった。
Following the war, in Japan the communist party and the socialist party tried to pry the country away from capitalism and into the socialist movement. A portion of students and the labor unions provided enthusiastic support, but the majority of the people rejected this. The people made a wise choice.

At the beginning of the 21st Century, the People’s Republic of China, a country which has adopted a distorted form of socialism, has stepped up to try to take the place of the Soviet Union as the leader of the world socialist movement.

Beginning in the 1970s, the United States believed that by assisting PRC modernization and accepting China as a giant trading partner, China would gradually become democratized and it could eventually be brought into the capitalist realm.

Now the United States recognizes that this idea was mistaken. However, following the lead of the United States, Japan assisted the PRC through massive ODA (overseas development assistance) and private investment, and thereby fostered the creation of a monster which has brought severe disorder to the international community. Now the PRC has the second largest GDP in the world and also openly manifests military ambitions.

European countries, which maintained strong ties with the United States during the cold war, last year eagerly joined the AIIB (Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank). I think it was a mistake for Europe to cozy up to the PRC putting profits first, but the leaders judged that it was in their national interests, and there is nothing that can be done about it if they have the support of the people.

Given the breakthrough success of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election, it is clear that the United States is in danger of descending into mobocracy. At the same time, once again the fragility of Japan’s defense policy of relying only upon the United States has been highlighted.

Considering the international situation, the intention of the Japanese opposition parties led by the DPJ to distance Japan from the United States and join forces with China cannot be said to be utterly unreasonable. Judging by his statements and actions, Okinawa Governor Takeshi Onaga probably has the same idea.

The other day five opposition parties submitted a bill to overturn the Security Bills. They claim the Security Bills are unconstitutional, but it looks to me like a declaration by the opposition parties of their “intention to destroy the mutual trust between Japan and the United States.”

The people of the United States will not accept the abolition of the Security Bills which in his speech to both houses of the U.S. Congress in April of last year Prime Minister Shinzo Abe promised to, and thereafter did indeed, enact.

This is precisely the turn of events which the Chinese Communist Party has eagerly been looking forward to. If that is also the aim of the five parties which submitted the bill, then it is cowardly for them to veil their true intentions in protestations about “constitutionality.”
